Got my C6Z brakes installed!
All, just sharing a few pics and experiences from my install of the C6Z brakes on my C5Z from over the weekend:
My wheels are forgestar CF5s and work perfectly with the big brakes.
A few comments: I sourced most of the parts from Amazon and was able to put the full kit together for about $1800 shipped (all new parts). I did get Hawk ceramic pads as I wanted low dusting, which I purchased from another vendor. For the stainless lines, I went with doug rippie as well, but otherwise everything else came from Amazon and since I'm a prime member, it was free 2-day shipping.
The install is very straight forward and I did the whole job in about a half day, and I'm definitely no mechanic so anyone with basic tools should be able to do this.
I think it completes the look of the car...

I've had mine for aboit a year now. Love them. Only thing that I will change is the stock pads. Way to much dust. Keep me posted on the hawk pads. Looking for a good low dust pad. Looks great.

Look great, did mine early 2014. What a difference! I had mine powdercoated, they were GS Silver. Used Doug Rippie SS lines, very happy with them as well!

cannot wait to do this...have a few other projects first...will have to look into souring my own parts since there is that much of a price gap between that and the kits...do you buy ss lines for the c5 or c6? looks great!

There are vendors on the forum who have stainless steel lines specifically for this mod. I used lines from Doug Rippie Motorsports a forum vendor.

I Believe In The Beer Fairy
This is an upgrade I want/need to do to my car (stock brakes, Z51 upgrade stuff, LOTS of power). Are they truly worth it given the cost, from a sheer performance point of view? Buddy of mine says they're not when compared to slightly more expensive systems. Anyone have feedback on that?

If you go with stoptech or other name brands, your looking at an easy 5k+ , that is definitely not in the 'slightly more expensive' range for me.
They are amazing for the money, performance and cosmetic wise if you run the proper wheel/tire setup.

Of course, they are totally worth it! You can get a nice complete kit ready to swap onto your car with everything you need for like $2100 through various vendors.
If you go with stoptech or other name brands, your looking at an easy 5k+ , that is definitely not in the 'slightly more expensive' range for me.

I put the upgrade together for right around $1700, including calipers, rotors, and pads. Had stainless steel brake hoses made and bought premium brake fluid for another $200. The pedal is very firm, stops very evenly (little if any brake dive) and the pads have very little dust. Having said all this the stock C5 brakes with quality Hawk pads are more than sufficient for what most of us do. The upgrade for me is mostly looks.
