At some time or another, you've probably been inclined to push the limits of your Corvette, but remember, most track days are educational events.

If you race/track the car, sometimes things go wrong. Could have been much worse.

I've done a ton of "track days" with various organizations on a lot of tracks including Watkins Glen, Limerock, Pocono, NJ Motorsports Park, etc. I drove a number of cars, including a 2003 Z06 and later a 2004 Z06, and was fortunate never to have a serious incident. But I saw many cars, some clunkers and some truly extremely expensive car, end up on a flat bed with everything from bent up body panels to outright being totaled.
One thing you must remember is that your regular auto insurance does NOT provide any coverage for an on-track accident, even if it is a so-called "track day" or "educational" event. Most policies say if you go anywhere hear a track, they won't cover you.
However, some insurance companies are now writing track event coverage, separate from your regular insurance. If you can't simply walk away from your car if you trash it, consider track insurance. The cost varies based on your experience, the value of your car, the deductible, how many events you are doing, who sponsors and runs the events, etc. But if you are worried about the cost of potentially wrecking (and if you do this long enough, something will happen, big or small), having insurance can take some of the sting out of it.
Just a thought.
