Can someone explain to me why my 99 feels tons slower than my 03
So I sold my 03 last year because I was offered a deal I could not refuse. I bought a 99 in January. Both are 6sp convertibles bone stock my 03 was a 50th anniversary edition in that terrible marrone red color thats why u sold it. I know the small hp difference between the 2 but it is incredibly noticeable in the car. My 99 just seems like a dog compared to my 03. Any advice as to why. Also my 03 had 50k miles my 99 has 87k

Without going to a track and comparing numbers it is usually hard to be sure one car is slower than another.
There are many cars out there that feel fast but are not (usually because they are rough and throw the driver around). Other cars don't feel that fast but are (smooth is fast, fast is smooth).

The longer it's been since you sold it, the faster a car gets: the new one may not live up to the memory/expectations.
(Also depends some on what you've been driving in the meantime.)

Either your butt dyno is miscalibrated or your car needs a new air filter and maintenance such as plugs and wires to bring it back to spec.

In this rare event... I agree with the porsche owner. If that doesn't help then you should pay for a dyno day and ensure that everything is alright. Obviously the dyno isn't going to be a direct indicator as all are different, but if it comes up saying something crazy like 260rwhp, then you know you might have an issue.

I'd say do some cheap basic maintenance: Plugs, Plug wires, clean MAF and throttle body.
I'm sure you'll notice a difference and it'll feel more like your old car.

I believe the difference in torque numbers is 25 ft lbs (350 for the '99 and 375 for the '03 per the Corvette Action Center figures), and that may be one of the reasons the '03 felt faster. Could be the '99 does in fact need a tune up - would be worth checking into.
