Default headers

Hey guys... Got a header question.....on a 2002 C5 stock except for air raid CA an Corsa Extreme....how much increase in horsepower can you expect and will it change the sound a lot....I love the extreme pipes...thanks in advance...cars got the optional 3:15 gear so it scoots fairly well....oh...its an auto too

Properly dyno tuned you could expect 20-30 rwhp. Every dyno as well as headers ,...brand to brand is different and too many factors. Get a baseline run before and compare your results .

I saw a pretty measly 18rwhp gain, but a pretty significant 30 foot pound of torque gain. The sound change is insane, in all the right ways. Definitely less drone for me, but much louder up top.

But it may be different for your particular car.

After being tuned, my car hit 350 whp and 350 wtq. I didn't do a baseline before, but my tuner said that it was likely a 30 whp or so improvement on my 03.

The sound change is even more noticeable...I've got stock C5Z Ti's and it's an amazing sound. It'd be awfully loud with Extreme's, but probably awesome.

I'm new here and I'll be listening in on this conversation. Currently undecided on headers and intake. Great forum!

With the performance and sound increase, I wouldn't hesitate to do headers again. They're a fantastic upgrade.

I already had Borla Quad Tip Stingers then added headers followed shortly after with a dyno tune. My '02 Coupe produced 342 rwhp & 357 torque. The drone was just too much for my taste, so I replaced the Borlas with Z06 TI's & I'm very happy with the sound now - nice exhaust note, NO drone. Keep in mind that headers sometimes can be a PITA to install and the power bump may not be as much as you hope.

My tuner was surprised that I got 40 on mine. He said normal would be around 25 to 30. Like someone else said...the sound is insanely good.
