Easy power seat question
Hello fellow C5 owners! I have a question that should be very easy to answer.
How high does the seat go? Mine only goes up like half an inch if that.. Do I need a new power seat track? I took out the seat to see if anything was jamming it but everything looks ok. Here's a video of me operating it.

Went out and checked, my Z seat travels over 2" up and down I'd say. Top position is about the same as yours, but mine goes down to where the tilt grab handle is about flush down to the sill.

Thanks a lot for checking. This is a problem for me because I'm a pretty short dude at 5'7" and on top of that I have mild scoliosis so my torso is pretty short too so I'm trying to get all the height I could get but unfortunately from what you are telling me it sounds like it is stuck up instead of stuck down like I was hoping which means I'm going to have this problem even if I replace the power seat track..

Lemme know if you want actual measurements, I can do it at work tomorrow...

Looks like it's 214mm from the carpet to the top part of the plastic part of the seat with it all the way up. How about yours?
I really appreciate the time you're taking out of your day to check for me!

Have you removed the seat to inspect the foam? There are wires that slice through the foam. So you might want to rebuilt the seat cushion. Or get a piece of jute padding (and/or a piece of cordura).
The whole point is to get back to "normal" elevation.
I got a seat rebuild kit from West Coast Corvette. Hardest part of the job is heaving the seat out, and then putting it back into the car.

Here's what I get as close as where you placed yours as I could. Excuse the dirty ruler, that is not what it looks like; even if I do have a baby in diapers.

So yours is probably not height limited. Any chance you simply have something under your seat preventing its downward travel? I know this doesn't help, as you were hoping for more upwards movement...

Actually I see mine being a bit lower at its max. I get under 21cm to the top of that plastic piece.

I ended up taking the seat back out and letting the motors and track soak in WD-40 and now it went a good couple inches up! I'm afraid it will get stuck down again so I unplugged it so it won't move since I'm the only one driving my car anyway. I could sit soooooo much more comfortably now.

I thought of that but at car meets (and family get-togethers) kids always love to sit in the drivers seat (of course I let them. gotta share the stoke and spread the steeze! just over 10 years ago I was one of those kids) and all I need is for one of those little fockers to bring it back down!

The low seat(passenger side) was a problem for my wife also due to scoleosis so I bought two pieces of 2" square aluminum tubing, painted them black, added a few nuts and bolts, reinstalled the seats, and now she can ride with me comfortably. 5 year old granddaughter loves sitting higher also. Might be a problem if I(6' 1") or a buddy were to try and ride along but since I'm the only one who'll drive my vette it's not an issue.

Nice job getting the seat to raise up higher. Sure makes driving a lot more comfortable.
