Greenville Police Department gets a Z06
I don't know if this has been posted, or if you guys saw this already, but I thought it was pretty cool. The Greenville police department of north Carolina seized the car during a drug investigation and decided they can use it. And yea, I bet they are fighting over them keys!! Haha

That reporter has some facts a little off - unless that car has had some extensive mods done to it, it's not going to hit 200 mph.
Still, pretty cool use for a drug confiscation car.

Wow, that brings back memories. I used to live in Greenville when I worked for Burroughs Wellcome, back when I still had my 69 Vert. Enjoyed many a East Carolina football game.
As for re-purposing drug cars in NC, Apex did that with at least two cars, one was a Plymouth Prowler, but that was more for show like the Greenville Corvette. The other is a Mustang GT. That one was pressed into regular traffic control service, very effective.
The state used a pimped out Mercury Grand Marquis to patrol US 1 between Raleigh and Sanford for a while.
Getting back to Greenville, all I can say is GO PIRATES!!!!

LOL, I didn't react because the network news not having their facts straight in Greenville is pretty much to be expected. But they try real hard .

Media failed to verify the 50K as actually being MSRP and failed @ top-end speed reporting.
First rule in media reporting: U always verify your sources. Had they been told this will run like a new Ferrari they likely would have reported it as fact.
01Z w/o options/destination... 47500
03Z w/o options/dest 51420
03Z option total 445
03 destination 670

That's cool.......I'm from West TN, and some years back, Shelby County Sheriffs Dept had a corvette by way of the same deal. Later, they also had a Pro Stock Corvette race car they had painted up like a squad car, and they would take it to different events and to schools during show and tell.

In Portland a few years back the state police had a Corvette with a light bar on the top that they would park on the hiway to the coast. It did a great job of slowing traffic down.

The can confiscate property or money in an arrest for their use if the defendant is guilty or not according to a news story I read last week. Some cops in Oklahoma were using money to pay for rent etc. I think it's fine for them to put stuff to good use but maybe hold it until found guilty.

Wait till the column locks and the bad guys get away.High speed pursuit and a valve spring breaks.Rainstorm and water leaks in.Clutch pedal sticks to floor etc. They already said it has maintenance issues.Goofy cop needs to get a better job if as he claims,he can not afford a 12 year old used Vette worth about 20k.The video was comical as to how uninformed the media is.The cop leads folks to believe criminals buy Vettes and he wants to take them away.

Pay officers rent, phone bills, taco bell runs? Come on guy...everything you read on the internet isn't a fact.
They dont lose property/money until conviction...if not convicted they get it back. Well of course thats if those rotten, corvette hating, scumbag cops that try to keep felons out of your neighborhood...didnt use it all up on rent.
