Default 1998 C5 vibrations 65mph and higher

So I bought a 98 vette auto couple months ago and it had a slight vibration previous owner said it was because car needed alignment. I got it aligned and still vibration. Its felt in the whole car not just specifically front or rear. So I bought all new inner outer tie rods, replaced all ball joints top and bottom front and rear, replaced torque tube bushings. The wheels are grand sport replicas made in china but big o tire guys said they are fine and not bent maybe I should take them to different shop to have them checked out. Tires are also new falken. I replaced calipers pads and rotors also and power flushed system. I herd where the wheel mounts up to hub could be slightly off and might cause vibration havent taken it off to see. I have not changed my control arm bushings so maybe that could be issue. I mean 0 to 60 no vibration what so ever and after 65 and up vibration slow down to 60 and its gone. any help thanks

I'd have the tire balance checked by someone who can do a road force balance. If the tires are fairly new it probably won't be a separated tire so check the balance.

I agree with the above. I have a '98 and had the same issue. Finally took it to a very good wheel and tire shop and they found the bead on a couple tires (1 front & 1 back) had been cut when mounted. Mine were brand new tires as well. When the beads were cut there was air getting in between the tread and causing a bubble that would cause the vibrations. Mine was at pretty much the same speeds your talking about to. Just another thought for ya. I started replacing things as well before I got frustrated with it all. I was at the point of taking the drive shift out and replacing the couplers.

Boy, you have thrown a lot of money on things that should not have caused a vibration. That assumes the alignment guys found no issues.

You just say vibration but don't explain what it means. Does the steering wheel vibrate? Try to put it in words.

With that said, the first thing I would do is get a road balance on the tires. Your issue sounds like a classic tire issue.

An alignment will never cure a vibration. Sounds like a rear tire is out of balance. Typically 0-30 vibration is wheel/tire issue. 35-55 is worn suspension part. 60-up is balance issue.

Signed - the alignment guy

Swap wheels with a friend and if it still has vibration it's not the wheels.

I agree with roadforce balance. Take it to your local Ford dealer (eek! I know), but their QuikLane side or the dealer shop will have a roadforce balancer.

...or if you can find/know of another shop that has one.

To find a local shop that uses the gsp9700 balancer.

Another thing to try is jack the rear up and put the car in gear and see if you see a wobbly tire/wheel.

Keep us posted I have a 99 auto with the same issues. I have had wheels r/ f balanced twice. New rotors, checked wheel bearing. Smooth as silk until about 60 up. Don't feel it in the steering wheel but over the whole car. Shakes and goes away for a second

So the verdict was those stupid replica china wheels that came with the car when i bought it was out of round. I picked up some factory c6 speedlines and smooth as can be. After spending like 3k found the issue. I guess its my fault for just throwing parts at it but there was not way I was going to take to auto place for them to try and talk me around. I have yet to find a reliable place for my cars around oceanside ca area. I picked up my factory wheels from some guy on craigslist for 250 all 4 they are in perfect condition guy had them on about 5k miles and went with something different.
