Default Z06 2002 year 405hp?

Hi guys, I am looking for c5 z06 corvette and find info that z06 started in 2001 year, however 405hp engine started to sale since 2002y.

does it mean that all c5 z06 corvettes in 2002y have 405hp engine? or some of them still have old 385hp version? What other differences between 2001 and 2002 z06 may i see to identify its engine?

2002 Z06's and up are 405 HP.
Powertraian changes include sodium filled valves (lighter), more aggressive camshaft, MAF sensor screen removed, the air filter housing was changed for higher air flow, Intake manifold is lighter, pistons were changed, better oil ring set used, and a heavier spring clutch. Also changed exhaust removing two pup cats.

Check the VIN on the car and and motor serial number. That will tell you if it is an 01 or 02.

^^^^ This...definitely some upgrades starting in '02. However, I have read comments from some CF members that, in stock form, the seat of the pants difference between the '01 and the '02 - '04 isn't that much.

Look out for the 01's as many of them had oil burning issues, especially the early to mid year cars. Chevy did pay to repair them but it required installing new piston rings and not all cars had the repair done.

All 2002 - 2004 Z06s were 405 hp.
