Speed is fun and all but is it really worth it ?
How much money did it cost you to modify that engine to the 500+ HP ?
Now how much is it going to cost you to rebuild/swap/replace to your new goals?
Now you've got a lovely car sitting on blocks and you cant even enjoy it.
Any regrets at all ? Just curious

All good questions is it worth it yes. Major bucket list item for years has been to hit 200mph in the mile.

I actually bought the car with its current setup at a good price. Granted I have already put a decent amount in it since I bought it for miscellaneous stuff and nitrous system was not cheap.
Now how much is it going to cost you to rebuild/swap/replace to your new goals? For my new goals with labor and parts I would say 13 to 16k. Basically it's gonna take a year or two to come up with the money.

Very cool videos. Thanks for sharing. They have that mile run here in Arizona to. I've never been yet as I work most weekends. I actually grew up about an hour south east of Wakefield and remember playing them once in a while in High School football. Town's about the same size to. If I had lived in one of those farm houses I would have gotten the lawn chair out with a cooler of beverages to watch. The 2 lane hiways are about as good as it will get in Nebraska I think. Be safe and good luck on your new engine.

Pics of the current vette at the Wakefield Shootout
Pic of interior before new seats
After nitrous install kinda dirty in this pic
When I first got the car this one shows the rear wing which I took off for the shootout. Oh and I took off all the stickers.

The car was putting down about 560rwhp on a Mustang dyno. Its a 427 high compression running 110 octane. It also has a nitrous system for an extra 70hp but I think that was part of the reason it went boom on the second run. Plan is to rebuild a motor that is actually meant for nitrous. All said and done goal is for 750rwhp and 200mph.
As for the road it was a bit sketchy given how narrow it is. There was also a 25mph crosswind that kept things interesting.

That would be incredibly impressive if the C5Z platform could do a standing mile @ 200 MPH, with only 750 WHP. I would think it would take more than that, but, I certainly am no expert. I would love to see it though - good luck!

Some motivation for you. Video starts at 2 min.
I'm trying to find a good mile event near me that I can get my 850whp c5 z in on.
On a side note, oh how I miss good ole Nebraska. I grew up in York, NE and I am very familiar with those back country highways and high speed runs I was never lucky enough to get one closed down for me though
From what I know about the car in the video: Stock Trans, Stock Rear, No Cage, No Harness.

It is right around that power level to get to get to 200 with decent weather conditions. Other key factor is the gearing. My previous vette I switched over to the Gforce overdrive so .83 for 5th and .70 for sixth. This made a huge difference unfortunately I never did any runs with this setup before I sold the car.
