C5 Timeless look?
I LOVE my 02Z and will have it for many years to come and I always thought the C5 had a timeless look and kinda still do BUT I parked beside a 2015 Z06 the other day and thought for a second mine looked like a Model T ford beside the new one

I was at the dealership a week ago and had a similar feeling. I think some of this is perception. After all the C5 is over 10 years old and hasn't turned around in value. Its just my opinion, but some day nice c5s will be a showpiece similar to C1s and C2s. The smooth, clean lines are classic but right now there are just too many available at used car lots. I believe that for the first 6 generations, the C5 is the most aero, not sure about the C7. That alone may bode well for the C5.
I wonder how we would feel about the C5 design if the C7 body had been introduced in 1997 and the C5 came out in late 2013? Hmmmm.

I agree that the C5 has classic lines to it and will remain a popular choice for sports car enthusiasts for years to come. Whether it will be like the C2s were is hard to say though.

I'm not impartial as i just bought my first vet [c5 z06] but i think it is one of the most beautiful cars ever made. The new vetts look great but almost garish or too futuristic. It's ok to like both i guess.

I agree. Some of what we "feel" or "see" is affected by what we "know". If what you state were true I feel that the C5's styling could/would hold up in 2015. Of all the Corvette styles, to me it is the one that can stand beside all other model years and still hold its own. Quite an accomplishment.
Jaguar has made many beautiful cars, but despite the passing of time, and the "advancement" in car body designs and fashions, the 54 year old E-Type still turns heads even at the most prestigious of gatherings. I'm not sure that the C5 can claim that sort of fame, but I do believe that it is one of, or the most, classic of all Corvette body styles.

I am lucky enough to have a bit of diversity in my small car collection and my '98 C5 is the cheapest car I own, it also has lower miles than the rest, I have the least money in it compared to the others yet it is the car I want to drive most as it puts the biggest smile on my face, when able I am hoping to add a Z06 (FRC) car to the lineup, to me this car is timeless. It is funny my non-car friends when they 1st see it think it is only a year or two old.

Stock C5's are incredibly dated. Its true, but these cars have a ton of potential to make them look modern. Upgrade the old outdated lights to L.E.D's, Grab a set of H.I.D headlights. Grab a set of modern wheels, This is the biggest reason why C5's look dated. The stock wheels are so outdated and old, It brings the look of the car down considerably. Get rid of the tacky B.S.M, Upgrade the seats and you have a C5 that can hold its own.
Some people need to realize this design is 20 years old now. It had a decent run for being a "modern" design well after its end of production but the C7 has completely raised the bar and in turn, Everything before it is now suffering from being dated and old.
