Default Anyone have trouble with Shell gas?

I always fill my car with Shell premium gas ever since I first bought it because Shell is a Tear 1 gas. However, I recently began having fuel delivery problems. This spring I had to replace my injectors because they were leaking. They are Seimens 60 #r's. They were about 6 yrs old and had about 25K miles on them.

Last night I filled my car up with Shell premium, and after driving about 40 miles my gas gauge immediately went to 0 and I got a low fuel warning. The gauge worked well before this happened. I know what causes this but am wondering if my issues are being caused by Shell gas.

Anyone have similar problems with shell gas?

I use Shell premium gas and have had the 0 gas gauge reading also. I do not think the problem is Shell gas since techron has intermittently fixed the problem.

Never had any problems with Shell gas because I've never used it.
Any Chevron stations near you? Either that or stick some Techron in the tank every so often; do a search on gas gauge issues, plus on Techron for how often...

We mainly have Citgo around here and I consistently got the empty gas tank readings with that after a fillup. I started going to Exxon and I almost never have the issue now for what it's worth. No Chevron around here, but Exxon seems to be C5 friendly as well.

Shell must be up to their old tricks...they had a class action lawsuit about 8 years ago with Chrysler owners, their fuel was gumming up fuel gauges. (The owners won) I stay away from Shell as none of my vehicles (three) run properly immediately after fueling. I just drive right on by and have been all the better for it!!!! It is not your imagination that the fuel gauge issues or many other issues are caused by Shell fuel, IMHO!

Techron seems to fix gas gauge problems with the C5. It took two bottles in two tank fulls but it fixed my gas gauge problem I had in my 98.
I'm ready to get flamed but I get my gas at ........Walmart . It is the only place nearby that has 93 octane that my 98 wants. My 02 is fine with 91 octane.

For a year I used Techron in every tank to try to fix the fuel gauge problem without results. I tried one tank of Shell V-Power and my gauge started working. Can't say for sure but it might have cured the problem. Have been using it ever since without any issues.

I had to look that up. Found this:
The Shell Canada Lawsuit was a class action suit filed against Shell Canada Limited on July 18, 2003, on behalf of customers who purchased "Bronze" (regular-grade) gasoline products, to which Shell Canada added an "additive", between March 1, 2001 and April 15, 2002. This additive allegedly caused damage to the fuel supply system of many cars, most commonly of Acura, Chrysler, Dodge, Ford, General Motors, Hyundai and Volvo brands. While Shell Canada estimated that between 100,000 and 200,000 customers bought "Bronze" products during that period, it is unknown how many total vehicles were affected.

A settlement was reached on January 7, 2004, and was approved by the Superior Court of Quebec in June 2004. Under the settlement, Shell compensated people who owned or leased vehicles that were filled with at least C$100 worth of Shell branded gasoline between March 1, 2001 and April 15, 2002 and that experienced fuel pump or fuel sensor problems before July 31, 2002. Claims were able to be made under the class action until November 5, 2004.

There are three classes of claims and compensation:

People who owned or leased 1996–2002 Chrysler vehicles (except Jeeps) were fully reimbursed for fuel pump and fuel sensor repairs and for eligible out-of-pocket expenses.
People who owned or leased other 1996–2002 vehicles and who can establish that the fuel pump or fuel-sending unit had a particular residue on it were reimbursed for eligible repairs and out-of-pocket costs to a maximum of C$175.
People who owned or leased pre-1996 vehicles and who can establish that the fuel pump or fuel-sending unit had a particular residue on it were reimbursed for eligible repairs and out-of-pocket expenses to a maximum of C$100.
It was an additive used one year in Canada 14 years ago. I think they have the problem sorted out by now.
BP was sued for bad gas too.
http://www.nwitimes.com/business/loc...5995f7ebf.html

...and Exxon http://www.nola.com/business/baton-r..._exxonmob.html

....and Chevron sold some bad gas http://www.reuters.com/article/2014/...0PL2MT20140710
The sales halt came after an undisclosed number of drivers began complaining of "performance issues" with their automobiles burning premium gasoline at Chevron- and Texaco-branded stations in the greater Houston area, said company spokesman Braden Reddall.

It's OK to get your gas there as long as your not wearing your Rolex...

I used Sunoco since purchasing my 02 March 2014 and never had gauge issues. Added Techron every other tank also. Then about a month ago, gauge became intermittent, sticking at 3/4 tank and once on empty untill I did a restart. I switched to Shell and now seems normal again. So who knows is it a fluke or what? I will stick with the Shell for now and see how things go.

I have used QT 93 (quick trip) or Shell 93 for 2 years in my 02Z with no fuel gauge problems and never used techron additive or any other additive.

I am not picky, I put gas on mine wherever is cheaper, use 87 octane at high altitude and the car runs fine.

Like I told you tonight in Danvers, I've been using Shell 93 in my C5 with an occasional 20 oz. bottle of Techron and have had O problems. I've used it exclusively in my 05 GTO for the last 10 years and never and any kind of issues. JMHO

I'm up in Denver...run Shell Premium. FYI Down the Road Corvettes is having a show at Emich Chevrolet this Saturday, the 12th, if you're interested. 185 signed up so far...may be a mix of Chevy but I know of at least 40 that are Corvettes.
