The C5 is not fiberglass. All corvettes are painted so the substrate is irrelevant.
Since you just want a pure wax I can suggest Meguiars Carnauba. It is in paste and liquid form.

Your question is for many people a matter of brand loyalty and opinion. You can use the search feature (upper right of the page) for all the various brands you see at Auto Zone, O'Reilly's etc.
Since the car is new to you, start by washing in with a detergent like Dawn to get off the old wax. I'd suggest searching "clay bar"- buy some clay and a spray detailer (I prefer Meguiar's products) and do that step first. You'll be amazed at the dirt in the clay.
Then pick a good wax/polish and take your time working in small areas. I like using micro-fiber towels rather than old shirts or towels.
Repeat the process one more time for good protection heading into the winter season.
And check out the forum's Car Care section for more good info: https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...discussion-10/
Good luck- and welcome to the forum.

Meguires, Adam's Polishes, etc. are all good products to use on the car. As said, it comes down to what you really prefer. Many here use Zaino or Chadwick's Triple Play to keep the car looking great. Ask a number of forum members which product is best and you'll get a lot of different answers.
I use either Turtle Wax Ice or Adam's Polishes on mine and am pleased with the results. There was a really good suggestion to wash the car first with Dawn and then clay bar to car to get all the contaminates off the surface of the paint.

I use P21S on my cars. Very expensive but you get what you pay for. No competition in my opinion.

Ill jump in.... most people try different things, and fall upon what they feel is the best " so far " for them..
AS many people know as an Engineer, I do a lot of research, talk to chemists and engineers who are in the automotive business.
Ive been doing this stuff for over 50 years... Science has changed the game... As my research has shown any Carnauba wax... is not the top shelf, anymore, its old science... you can research my research on this subject in the 20 or thirty articles I have posted in this forum over the last 15 years.... Carnauba is an organic vegetable based product with a slightly yellow appearance, there for it is not 99% optically clear. Its " Yellow " Carnauba, as an organic product breaks down around 140F, which is easily attained in the summer on dark colored cars...roof hood or trunk. I used to use Carnauba products because at the time they were the bests.
ENTER SCIENCE:
15 years ago I can accros a product that was a space aged polymer, that claimed it was 99% optically clear, no chalking, and could be applied to a black car, in the Nevada desert @ 140 degrees with out any issue of application or removal.... It caught my attention.. AS a GM engineer at the time , I contacted the polymer designer.. His Name is Sal Zaino... we talked on the phone and he was interesting.. together with a relative ( a DuPont Chemical engineer , they developed this product... I bought it, and was blown away... when a car looks like it is wet, That's the look I was looking for, and with a red car, the pigment is very susceptible to UV degradation... red fades easily when unprotected from UV rays.. UV rays are a killer for all colors but red is the worst.
AS many know I have been very sick over the last 2 years.. I have not Zaino'd my car in 2 years , and I am so amazed by the look, the clarity and the wet look of my car. Zaino is easy to use,, I can do my whole car in 45 minutes, taking my time.. IM looking forward to detailing my car before I put it away for the winter , for the first time in 2 years... Zaino is like therapy for me... Now that IM slowly getting my strength back, I can look forward to this process again, but here is a recent shot of my car, I never wash it...this is a random shot I took at my gun club, with my cell phone because as I was coming up from the range my car just looked so shinny.. for a 16 year old car with 100K, and had not been touched in 2 years other than a dusting with detailer.. it looks as good as a New car. I took this shot, note the reflection in the shadows.... on the lower panels of the car... I can get 9 applications from one bottle of Zaino... and its all I use..
Cell Phone shots... the car was not prepared in any way for these shots..
Not touched in 2 years except for quick detailer.

BTW, as I recently posted in a similar thread... Since the use of a Mass-spectrometer, these formulas can easily be cloned ( duplicated , stolen )buy other manufacturers... To my knowledge Sal was the innovator.. I know for a fact that other manufacturers were looking at Zaino's chemical formula... had his product in their research lab.
There are many products as good as Zaino out there now, but Ill stick with his product, because my car, and the comments I get every single time I take it out, are proof positive to me.. IN 50 years, I've never had a car look so good, appear to be so wet, its not just a little bit better than any product I've used in the past, and there have been hundreds over 50 years... NO reason for me to change. its 99% optically clear and its not yellow .
This is what they use to make Carnauba wax.. note the color... this is the extract from the plant.

Thanks, its continuing to be a rough road...its tough getting old...the good news is I'm still here... but for some, maybe not good news LOL..... 2 years ago I was not expected to make it into this year2015.. but after three surgeries, and some clinical test drugs, IM in remission at the moment, and trying to regain my strength... one day at a time.
Thanks again
