X-Pipe? What is that?
Sorry guys,
I'm a newbie and I don't know too much about cars and haven't really grown up around cars or tinkered with them. Could someone please explain what an X-pipe is? I have a Corsa exhaust and would like to know what an x-pipe will do for me. I think mine is a cat-back exhaust. It has a deep throaty sound and can get loud if I step on the gas.
What does an ex-pipe do? Does it add more horses or does it make the exhaust sound any better? 2003 Z06.

It just smooths out the exhaust sound. It basically reduces the burble and popping between gear shifts. That's about it. It is supposed to help with scavenging exhaust gases more quickly but it's nothing you will feel. No significant horse power gain.

It's also something you can add to your mod's list and it sounds cooler than having an H pipe(just the nomenclature, not the actual sound)... I mean would you rather watch a movie titled the H- men or the X- men? They didn't call him Malcolm H that just doesn't sound kewl...so they called him Malcolm X. Would you store something in a Hcaliber? NO, it just doesn't even sound right, now you might consider an XCaliber storage container...

Some owners install an x-pipe to help quiet down any resonance or popping from the exhaust. My experience with the Corsa systems is no x-pipe is really needed.

Not only is this posted in a very old thread, but I believe it was posted in the C5 section in error. You might want to repost this as a new thread in the C8 section.

I had a Corsa Extreme without the x-pipe for a few weeks before I finally installed their x-pipe. Although it is just a bit quieter, IMO, the sound with the x-pipe was significantly better, the x-pipe completely got rid of the jingley, motorboat sound. I also still get a decent bit of popping and crackling, which I love.
