Default C5 Vert - Trunk Deck Lid Alignment

I noticed that the decklid between my tonneau cover and my trunk has a raised section in the middle. I know that this is due to the rubber support bumper, similar to the two rubber hood support bumpers, being pressed up too far. My question, is how due I adjust it? I opened the trunk and it looks like I can stick a tool up through a hole underneath the bumper, but what kind of tool? The front hood support bumpers have a bolt that you loosen/tighten to adjust. Does this bumper have a similar bolt and how do you reach it?

Thanks!

Don't know if this helps -

Have you added one of the aftermarket springs that aid in lid opening ?
A fellow C5 owner claims he had a similar experience with his recently installed spring.

No, my trunk opener works fine. I'm just trying to find out how I can lower, screw down, this center support bumper.

I guess I wasn't very clear --
he claimed the added force of closing the lid against the new spring caused the hinged side of the trunk to move upwards slightly -- but that's not your problem.

The rubber bumpers for the trunk lid have integral rubber thread on them--I believe. And turning the bumper clockwise decreases the height and counterclockwise increases the height-I believe. I have adjusted these rubber bumpers on the rear corners-and assume that the bumpers at the leading edge work the same way.

As the height of these bumpers changes-the height of the closed deck lid changes. I don't have my car here,at the moment, to check this though.

But is seems that the tonneau cover may need the adjustment-hard to tell in the photos .

Thanks. Below are a couple of more pics that futher explain what I'm trying to accomplish.

The first picture shows the bolt/bumper that I need to screw down so that I can slightly lower the tonneau section so that it's even with the trunk. The second picture shows how it appears now with the trunk closed.

The issue is that I just can't get a vice grip or pliers and try to turn the bumper without ripping up the rubber. The ones in the front hood section each have a nut that you screw to either adjust up or down, however I don't see a nut for this rear trunk bolt/bumper.

I don't remember seeing a rubber bumper that looked like that on the tonneau cover lid at that location. I am correct--that rubber bumper is on the tonneau cover lid?

The adjustable bumpers that I was referring to originally were located at the back end of the trunk lid and are not configured like your pictured bumper at all.

My C5 is presently in storage and I can't compare.I checked my 2001 Factory Service manual and they don't make reference to such a bumper nor show any illustrations of such a bumper. But the FSM isn't as comprehensive as it could be. And makes no mention of lid alignment that I can find.

What model year is your convertible?

It's not actually located on the tonneau cover, rather the section between the tonneau cover and the trunk. It's the section in the above picture between the convertible top and the trunk lid. If you lift open the trunk, you can then see the bumper per my pics above.

Once the snow abates somewhat-I will take a look at my 2001 and see what mine looks like.

What model year is yours?

Looks like a Allen key, probably adjusted from the top with tonneau cover open.

I would spay or with some kind of thread lube, make sure you have correct size Allen key and turn it to adjust. Mine is an 01

It's under the tonneau, open it up like you are putting your top down. Unless yours is different than mine.
