Default Radio will Not Turn On, Red Light steady on

Hi,

My 2001 C5's radio has worked great, but today it will not turn on, and the red light is on steady. I have tried entering the security code, but nothing comes on the screen.

How do I fix this?

I forgot to mention, it is a CD player, with CD changer in the back.

disconnect the battery and hold the negative and positive batteries cables together for 30 seconds. It will clear all your systems and reset your radio. I know it sounds weird but it works.

Certainly worth a try.

Mine did this too. I figured out that the previous owner had replaced the **** on the volume and it was not letting the button depress completely. I pulled the **** off and pressed the rod in and it came on. This may be your issue as well. Good luck.

I pulled the fuse for the radio, then reinserting the fuse made the radio reset. Everything worked OK Sunday.

Today, the Theft Lock light was flashing when I entered the car and kept flashing after starting the car. Other than the flashing red light, everything else was dark. Guess I need to pull the fuse again. I have also had to reset the clock after the car has set for a week or two. Funny thing is that I have an automatic trickle charger, and the AGM battery is fairly new. Maybe there is a diode going bad in the radio that is causing these issues.
