Interior Leather? (shifter boot & e-brake)
Hi folks, quick question. Does anyone know what material the stock shifter boot (M6) and e-brake boot are made of in a 1999? Is it leather?
I bought my car about 5 months ago and I have been treating both items with a leather conditioner every couple of weeks in the months I used it before storage. I just noticed that after a couple of months of no treatment they have a grey dirty looking color to them. Maybe this is normal for 16 year old leather and I just need to treat them again and they will look ok. The seats are fine though...so I am wondering if the boots are vinyl.
Any thoughts?
Thanks in advance.

I am guessing on both...
-Vinyl
-That you overdid the treatment and/or it's not a good product. I treat mine maybe once or twice a year and they look great. Every couple weeks seems way too much to me.

Thanks for your feedback. I used Autoglym Leather Care Balm which I thought was good. It doesn't say it can't be used on vinyl. I did it every couple of weeks because it didn't look as nice after a couple of weeks. I thought it was just a little bit of neglect that may have required a few extra treatments.
Anyone else have any info?

the stock material used it cheap and imo does not hold up over time i found this out the same way as the OP ....i ended up ordering some new real leather from redline goods and have not looked back...better then OEM and looks 100% better

My interior is from Vette Essentials. The factory stuff is pretty low quality, so if you really want something that will last, install products from a vendor that has top quality leather and a great fit.
