I did a chrome V.S. Black comparison

I don't like chrome, but I do like polished aluminum despite the maintenance. However between chrome and black, I'd go chrome. Black looks like crap. You might as well buy the cheapest wheels you can find, they won't look any worse since you can't see any detail anyway. There is no definition between the wheel rim and the tire either. Black just looks like you couldn't afford to get good wheels. The chrome really pops against the yellow, really complements the color. Nothing looks better than a set of polished CCW's. Didn't lettered tires go out in the 70's? I'm not usually this opinionated but I really dislike black wheels. It's not an age thing either.

I'm very bias to chrome, 3 out of our 4 cars have chrome wheels and look great to me. Those black don't look terrible or anything but chrome makes the yellow all that much better. JMHO

I'm not sure it's the chrome, or that I don't like that particular wheel. Some chrome wheels look good, but only a few (IMHO). Not a fan of black wheels either. My car had stock Z wheels plastidipped black when I bought it. I replaced these with TSW Nubrigrings with a machined face.
Given the choice of the two you posted, I would go with the black sans the yellow script on the tires.

In this case I'd vote for black but don't get the cheapest, get the lightest. After all the only legitimate reason for replacing the wheels on a car is to get rid of rotating weight so you'll have better performance.

If you had not noticed a lot of the new cars have black including the vette, from a far blacks do lack definition but up close is different, where are most people seeing your car ? going down the road where black and chrome are a chrome blur and a black blur !!!! up close (at car meets) is different, I am not biased ether way everyone has their
preference.
I seen more of these on the new vettes than chrome, again I am NOT trying to fight !!!!!!
preference.

In my opinion, it depends on what kind of look you are going for. If you want a sporty look, or fun look as some suggested, I would go with chrome. If you want the bad to the bone look, I would go with black.
I am over 50 too, come to think of it, I am over 60...I like the chrome best, but I think the black could grow on me.

I was probably a little too harsh with my earlier comments. I'm sorry if I offended anyone. I don't know why but black wheels on anything don't do it for me, but clearly it does for others. Whatever u like is what u should get. It's you that needs to be happy, not me. Custom stuff is like art, it's very subjective.

I'm beginning to warm to black wheels, especially on the the C7 and with brighter colors like yellow, white, and red. However the only downfall is that from 10 feet away you can't tell the difference between an expensive, lightweight premium black wheel, and a painted OEM black wheel.
I run polished CCW 505As on my C5 and love the look, however I plan to order a C7Z later this year and will probably choose the standard silver nickle-finish OEM wheel and then have it powder coated. Perhaps hyperblack, which may be an in-between option for you.

I'm sick of my chrome wheels, but I like the style. (iForge Aero 5 spoke) If I could get them refinished, it'd be matte black with a red pinstripe. I'm 62, since that seems to be relevant somehow.
