Default I did a chrome V.S. Black comparison

What do you think looks better on my mellenium yellow corvette, I did it on my computer. Chrome or Black Wheels ?

Chrome

Black v.s. Chrome

Black

I think the front wheel looks better with the subtle yellow lettering than the rear with thicker lettering with the trailing stripes
The black wheels also make the yellow brake calipers really stand out more too.

I like the look of chrome-- but am over 50.

If you're younger, you'll probably prefer black . . .but no matter how you slice it---that back wheel with the big yellow letters is fugly!

I am over fifty as well, in fact CQRT and I hang out together the first Saturday of the month. I have a MY '04 coupe, the chrome rocks. The black is lack luster.

Since you asked, I like chrome as it compliments a fun color (for a fun car) yellow perfectly. Black always makes me think of winter tire rims or urban assault vehicle rims. Certainly not a vehicle that is fun but more threatening. IMNO

Hey Bob

Its no comparison, you gotta go black

Those chrome wheels take away from a lot of the hard work and money you've put into your car.

Swapping them out or even painting them black would be the finishing touch you need

51 here, and on yellow in particular I think the black looks the best by far. But then I never liked chrome, even back in the 70's when everyone did chrome.
If the yellow lettering of any sort is part of the deal, then, well... anything without the yellow on the tires (even chrome).

Do one side of each?

Guess I'm "young" at 38, but do like the more sinister look of the black...sans the yellow lettering. I'd suggest a subtle yellow stripe instead.

That's a tough call. I'm over 50 and plan on chrome on my own car, but that black really pops on the yellow car.

In most cases, I would say chrome. However, the black goes so good with the yellow, I would go with the black wheels. Any other color car, I would go with the chrome.

(Of course my opinion may be clouded by the fact that I'm a Steeler fan.)

Wow, Thanks for all the replies so far, Well I like the look of both, Im 54 so the chrome looks very classy to me and just makes the car look more "showy" if that's even a word? But I think the black makes it look more Racy or competitive would you say. And yes the black does "PoP" with the yellow paint and brake calipers. Well I have 6 cans of black plasti-dip ready to go on the wheels now. Maybe I will just try it and see, I can always take it off later if I don't like it or get tired of it. Thank you all for you opinions, I appreciate it. And yes I too think the wide yellow lettering on the wheels is "Fugly" too. But I do like the small lettering though...Im liking the yellow stripe idea too

Is it me or does the black wheels make the tires and wheels look bigger on the car ?

Back in the day if you wanted black wheels you took the hub caps off. Can't get the look of the black wheels on the C5, but thats ok because it is your car not mine. I have a different liking.

Two undeniable and unalterable laws of nature:

1. Old guys absolutely rule and are never wrong!!!

2. Black wheels suck!!!!!

To me black is dull and boring. You might as well buy the cheapest black wheels you can because black wheels all look the same.

Thanks for asking. First, I really don't think you can go wrong either way, however; my vote is to go the chrome route. Let us know what you decide.

I'm old school (64) and I have a silver coupe, I had already blacked out the lights and grills, I could not make up my mind between black or chrome,I finally decided on chrome when I opened the box I had a heart attack, they were black !!! it was already late April and I had an appointment the next day to have the new tires installed. I kept the black (I liked the look)and I get a ton of compliments on them. Deep down I really would like the chrome, some day I will get another set !!!!

They are better than the Wagon Wheels !!!!!!!!
