Default Water Source

After going for a drive this morning, I opened the hood when I got home and saw water seen in the picture in the attachment.

The car hasn't been washed in years (it's rarely driven and stored under a cover in the garage) and it's a beautiful day with very low humidity.

It's definitely not anti-freeze.

I have searched to find the source but I'm stumped. Where could it be coming from?

When I had the windshield washer reservoir completely full, every time I did some hard acceleration there would be washer fluid come out of the nozzles on the wiper arms. I'd bet that is where your water is coming from. Simply do not fill the washer reservoir full and it should stop leaking like that.

You caught me Jack. It was a beautiful top down day and I had my foot in it every chance I got. There are a couple of underpasses that are the closest thing we have to a tunnel. When you hit the throttle under them the sound is amazing.

I thought the water might have been coming out of the wipers, but most of it was not in the depression that's under them, it was in the recessed area behind the battery and forward of the wipers (it's hard to see in the picture). I think you are right because that's the only place it could be coming from. You are also right, the wiper-washer reservoir is full.

Thanks!

The vent might be slightly plugged in the washer tank cap.

Sorry for the dumb question, but where would the vent be? I looked at the cap and couldn't find it.

Look for a small vent hole on the top of the cap to the Washer Reservoir
It's right in the middle of the windshield symbol ...i got a white line drawn on the picture pointing to it !
