Beautiful Z you got there.
I had a similar situation with my 98 last summer when a guy asked me if mine was the newest generation Vette. I told him it was built when Clinton was still president. He looked at me in disbelief.

One guy at the gas station was surprised when I told him it was a 2003.

Not everyone knows the evolution of the Corvette, so I hope you tactfully set him straight. Take it as a compliment that the car looks good enough to be thought of as a 2015.

Happens to me alot as my 98 is my summer daily driver. I kindly explain to them what year it is but one time a guy argued with me on the year. It was my 98 with close to 100K miles on her and he would simply not believe it was a 98. He actually got upset with me, basically called me a liar.
Also had a lady once ask me if it was a new Grand Sport

I've told this story before...
I always get the " Good Luck with the New Car " comment
Last year, I was asked if my car was the " New " Corvette Spider .
I had a guy chase me ( follow me for a while ) and then into a parking lot. When I got out, I was prepared for any thing. The guy asked me all about my car... when I told him it was ( at the time ) 15 years old with 90,000 miles, he accused me of pulling his leg ( aka lying ) His rebuttal after looking inside was; " they didn't make Blue tooth and Navigation systems 15 years ago.
The point being, he thought my car was New, and was willing to argue with me about it... He also said he saw me on the highway about 2 miles back and all he could see was the fat *** and flared quarters, and super wide tires. he said he never saw a Corvette like mine, one that got his attention, even from a distance, and had to follow me to ask some questions. He apologized for the stalking. We talked for about 15 minutes. The guy was about 30 or 35.
