i have a 1998 c5, i am putting 2004 seats in the car, my question is the 1998 drivers seat and car has only 1 electrical connection were the 2004 seat has 2 electrical connections , what is the second connection for?
will the 2004 seat still operate ? forward/back

The 2nd connection which should be blue is for power telescopic steering wheel. Your car does not have this option since the electrical connector is not there.

The seat should work just fine with the power controls.
