Default Corvette type

What letter type is a corvette? Example you hear people talk about the f body camero. What is the corvette? 2004 coupe.

On page 27 of All Corvettes Are Red, it states that, "The Y-car was pure Corvette."

"C" designation is generational. C1 - first generation, C5 - fifth generation, etc. It's really just slang!

My understanding is the C5 designation is for the platform the 97-04 corvette sits on. I do not recall ever hearing the C designation for any other corvette before the C5. The Y designation i believe is correct.

Jack is correct.. if the OP was referring to an F body, found on GM products like the Chevy Camaro, and formerly the Pontiac Firebird line, the body designator for a Corvette is a Y body

Thank you that's what I needed to know I know it's a c5 . I was asking because when go to setup the tech 2 for the proper car thats one of the questions to get the right car and the right motor.
