Cleaning my convert top
I have a 2001 all black vert. What is the best product to use to clean the cloth top without harming the finish on the car? Should i use a pressure washer on low pressure?

I first vacuum out all of the dust I can, then wash the top with Rag Top (available at any auto supply store). Up at the front, near the windshield, I sometimes have to use a soft brush. That area seems to collect the most dirt.

I use 303 convertible top cleaner with excellent results. Use this product with a natural horsehair brush to prevent damage to the top. To start I brush, vacuum, and then wash with the cleaner. Once a year I'll apply the 303 Fabric Guard for protection against the elements. Always been pleased with the 303 products and they work awesome.

When I had my '00 vert, I used 303 products and loved the results. Great product line.

As has been recommended.... vacuum regularly, wash only when visibly dirty. Use Raggtop or 303.
Let dry at least 72 hours, then re-treat with protectant.

I tried several products and had the BEST results from the 303... so it gets my vote as well

You guys may cringe at this. but when I first bought my '03 AE the shale top was stained terribly with fungus. Black spots all over the place from sitting outdoors at the previous owner's home after her husband passed.
Anyhow, I ordered the Ragtop cleaner and special brushes and it barely removed the spots. I thought I was destined to having a spotted roof when out of desperation I tried something else that worked for me. This method is not recommended by any detailers. It's not for the faint of heart and I decide that if I ruined the top I'd just have it replaced. I made a concoction of oxyclean and some diluted vinyl siding cleaner. Yes it was pretty strong, yes I had to rinse really well. It still took me several hours of scrubbing and allowing the "bleach" water to sit. Then rinse, and reapply. After all said and done every spot was removed. I let it dry and applied 303 sealer. It is awesome today and repels water like rain off a ducks back!
