Did I start at the top?
My name is Cameron and I own a 2002 Yellow Z06 with 39k miles. I am 17 years old as of this month and I have owned the car for about 5 weeks.
I am starting to question weather I started too high up in the ranks of vehicles. The Z06 was my gut decision both emotionally and financially, but did I start out on the top?
I realize that there are plenty of better cars out there, but I probably will not be able to afford the next one until I am 25 or so due to college. Maybe this has gave me a jump ahead of most but I don't know.
Any way I am enjoying the car with little to no complaints about it. I went for the Z06 because I have re built cammed LS1s and other GM small blocks in the past. This is truly an amazing car for $22,500 And if my predictions are right I hopefully won't loose $ when it comes time to move on.

You will lose money based on when you sell it. However it is a great car and we would be glad to help you with any issues you might have.
You are very young so don't kill yourself. I was there some 50 years ago in the heyday of the mid to late 60's. Surprised I am still alive with what I drove back then. Surprising what HP and Torque we had back then. Our tires really sucked back then.

Not sure what you mean? If you can afford a 22k car at 17, then you may find a way to upgrade when ready, although there is plenty you can do to mod this car way beyond cars that cost tens of thousands more, it all depends on what you want. People afford what they want
Be careful,
Enjoy your car

tuff crowd ????? When I was 17 I bought a 375 hp 396, 4 speed, 4.10 gears, 69 Camaro back in the day that might have been more car than a ZO 6 ????????????????? (it didn't stay stock very long)

I bought my Z06 when I was 18 just after high school. I'm 22 and still own it. Been my daily driver. And I mean ever single day. It's an amazing car and a head turner for sure. You made a great decison to go with a Vette over any other type of sports car in that price range. Don't let the dicks on here (nzcars33) that run their mouth bother you. The insurance is easy. Put it on your parents insurance and then pay them. Otherwise you better have a great job because when I was quoted for it by myself, $684 a month. That's more then a new Vette would cost.

If it's true and you were given or bought a C5Z06....good for you. Did you start out at the top? Me thinks not.....but you didn't do too bad. You have a nice vette no doubt....but be careful w it.....they can bite.

We both must have pretty good taste! I couldn't be happier with the purchase either. I oringlaly thought I wanted a newer comaro until I drove my Z. From the first time I sat in it and put it in gear, I knew I found MY car. Don't tell me we both have yellow? Haha

After they finally came out I went and looked at one. All plastic interior and decided I'll pass.

GOOD for you youngsters! My first car was a 50 Merc... then as a junior in high school I bought a 65 Convertible GTO 400 4spd...bought with money I made hauling hay in the summers...and going on harvest.

Congrats on your new addition. These are different times as to when one can own a Vette. When I was 17, I received my first ride in a Vette. It took me 50 yrs. before I bought one. No matter how or when you got yours, is no ones business. Enjoy what you have, drive it with respect and let the future define your destiny in the Corvette world.

As far as a C5 goes, yes, you started out at the top. Congrats on being able to afford something like a Z06 at 17 years old. Just be careful, these cars are extremely powerful and it's not hard to get in trouble with them.
