New owner, of my first C5
I finally made up my mind & did it! Last Thursday bought my first C5. Thanks, Cordy M, coia96vette, Corvette#2 and all you others, who took time about 10 days ago, to answered my 2 questions about, C5 verse C6. ------------ and my other concerns about buying a car with the Z51 pkg..
Last Thursday, I bought the 1998 car with the Z51 pkg. It is RED, and Pewter. Pristine, near perfect. Has only 28.5 K miles. Chrome wheels, New tires, Borla exhaust, lots of cosmetic add-ons, and bone stock.
I am 71 yrs. and was concerned about the ride. The ride is a little firm, but not bad, at all --- it was just what I was expecting after hearing comments from the forum members, about Z51. Glad I got it. Really takes the curves, well.

Welcome to the forum. I too am 71. I too have a red zx51 coupe. Mine is 17 years old with over 100,000 miles. Everything works as new. I've made some cosmetic upgrades, like wheels, rotors, body panels, hood, interior, Navigation and blue tooth audio head unit, Corsa exhaust, B&M ripper, upgraded speakers. My age and my health conditions do not deter me from enjoying this car.
Some recent shots of my " Little red Corvette : that " I can party like it's 1999". Trib: To Prince.
So as you can see, whether it's 28,000 miles or 100,000 miles.. these cars can keep their looks for many years.
Good luck with yours and hope you have as much fun with yours as I do with mine.. Welcome again.. contact me if you need any help. I've already had a part in the birth of your car.

Congratulations on your new old baby! I love red and black C5's, yours is a beauty! They are a great car, lots of fun, and as far as I'm concerned, a very comfortable car. I'm 66 and have had back problems for decades, not a problem with the C5, I find them very comfortable, even on long trips. By the way, you timed your buy just right, great vette weather is upon us!! Best wishes and good luck with your new ride!

Thanks to everyone for your comments. --------- I know I am going to enjoy this C5, more than any car, I've every owned. I bought it in Reno, NV. Going home to northern Calif., I took the beautiful 120 mile back road over the Sierra Nevada Mts. It is a two lane, very curvy road (very little traffic) that follows the Feather river canyon. Coming out of the canyon is extreme uphill-curves. -------- What a blast! --------- I just wish the drive had been another 100 miles! Should have got the C5 years ago!
