Price Value Opinions Worth? 02 Coupe M6 Rebuilt Title

Melting Slicks
I am not trying to be argumentative, just offering a different perspective. I don't think the car in question is worth the money with a salvage title but I imagine there is a price that would be fair for both parties. I don't automatically discard a salvage title car if It's a desirable car to me and the price is right for me. I almost bought a salvage title 99 Nassau Blue FRC for $13k but someone else scooped it up before I could make the trip to see it in person.
So one has to ask oneself, What else can I find for the same dollars as I can buy the car in question. A 02 low mile coupe that was wet at one time and has a salvage title for X dollars or for instance the 99 FRC in the other thread (or any other C5) for X +or - a few dollars. Food for thought.

That price is way too high for a flood title
I could get a 04 supercharged c5 for 16k (in Chicago area)
Just look for higher mileage older c5s, I picked up a black 98 last summer for 9500.00 with 75k miles, no issues
Not a perfect show car but it's ok I can treat it like a Camaro and not care
IMO flood sometimes is troublesome, had a ls1 camaro that sucked up water and hydro locked the motor, few hours later the water got higher and entered the inside a few inches, insurance totaled it, I wouldn't want anything to do with it based just on how nasty the flood water was... The smell...
Another time I had a Cadillac, was a Katrina car, seems alright, expect in the winters the inside of the Windows would ice up , literally had to use a scrapper on the inside of all the windows and shave ice all over the leather and dash.. I guess that car never really dried out..

Hypothetical: 2002 40k miles rebuilt flooded title (ten years old) v 1999 100k clean title. '99 showing age in paint and interior but otherwise egual. Both cars same price. Are you folks saying it is a no brainer? Get the '99.

On the other hand, if the flooded one checked out, it will take years and years to put another 60K miles on that car so the depreciation hit may be worth it to some.
No easy answer. Just have $2-3K in a separate account for unforeseen repairs in addition to your max budget. This is a must.
