MELBOURNE, Fla. - A 77-year-old Melbourne man was killed in a crash Saturday morning after his sports car veered off the roadway, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers said the man was killed around 8:20 a.m. when his 2003 Chevrolet Corvette veered off Interstate 95 near the Pineda Causeway exit and struck a pillar. He was pronounced deceased at the scene, according to News 6 partner Florida Today.
His identity has not yet been released pending notification of his family.
The crash is under investigation.

I live in Melbourne and saw this car being loaded up, I was praying they were ok very sorry to hear this for his friends and family
My wife did not recognize it was a Vette for sure, although I could tell, it was pretty messed up.

So tragic........
Gentleman was 77 yrs old. Given the nature of this accident i.e. time of day, good weather, single car and age, etc, I would suspect a physical condition situation. So, so sad.
