Would You Donate 50 Bucks to Get an EBCM Solution?
I was just reading some other threads and read several times " why isn't GM helping with a solution to the EBCM problem came up."
I was wondering how many people would donate to a legitimate entity to work on finding a solution. As a proud owner of an early C5, I would do it in a heart beat!
We must have experienced fund raisers in the forum who could set it up a 501(c)3 our what ever legal structure we need without the fear of us getting our donation ripped off. Also, one of our retired engineers could help us with GM.
If 5,000 people gave $50, that's a quarter of million dollars for research and engineering. I would still expect to pay for the finished product if I ever needed it.
I would love to walk into GM and offer them the money to fix this problem. I'll volunteer to be on the negotiating team.
How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time! To the animal lovers, it's only metaphor, I'm not suggesting we eat elephants.

When my EBCM went out on my '01, I would have been happy for a cheap plug-in that would have turned out the warning lights and buzzers. I really don't need active handling, traction control or ABS.

But I would like 2 solutions...
1. A replacement unit or repairable service option.(this is actually 2 solutions here)
2. A fix similar to the LMC5 that just eliminates the EBTCM system.
So I pledge $100...$50 for each of my 2 C5's (a 2000 and a 2001)

I have a '98 so yes, I would be happy to donate some funds for a fix that would be priced like the newer '01 - '04's instead of a couple grand for one that "might" not last very long.

There is a sticky by Caddy2006 in the C5 Tech section on replacing the early EBCM with the 2001-2004 EBCM. This is the way to go. Read it has all the part numbers and procedure to do the swap.

I would not give GM 1 penny. This is reinforcing bad behavior of a company not standing behind their products. Why reward them in any way? Class action lawsuit would work better IMO.

I could definitely see them discontinuing parts for a Chevy Cavalier, but for a Corvette, their flagship sports car?
