Yes, they bought the molds. Haven't really seen any posts that they are in production. Best bet is to contact them and see what the status is. I had one of the original MCM hoods on the '00 I had and it was a great addition to the car.

I am not sure it is ever going to happen. I know that because of the process , they can not make a lot of hoods. Back on 2000 I( was very friendly with the designer, in fact we were going to collaborate on a front and rear fascia , when both partners got sick and died.( about two years apart ) At that time , these hood where made with a lot of passion, and little profit ( because of the amount of time necessary to produce a single hood ) 16 years ago the cost of real Carbon fiber was very expensive, and the profit margin was small. I remember like it was yesterday when Mike and I were talking about the cost of carbon fiber going up significantly. Back then ( 16 years ago ) these hood where 1500 dollars plus shipping. Marc has the molds, but I fear he has not been successful in finding a Carbon fiber supplier that will make producing these hoods a profitable venture. The time to produce and the coast to manufacture is very prohibitive..
Marc has been silent about this for months. My gut feeling is that no one will pay the cost of producing these hoods in 2016 because the coat to manufacture would be too prohibitive. Even if these hoods were 2500 dollars. Marc wanted to keep the cost at 1500 dollars... I think the reason he has been silent is because that must be an impossible task. I don't think Marc want to go out and buy 20,000 dollars worth of Carbon fiber, and realize he has to sell these hoods at 2500 dollars to make a profit, and the cost would restrict too many people from buying, and he could be stuck with 20,000 dollars worth of Carbon fiber..... I could be wrong here, but I've been on the inside for a long time as one of the first people contacted by the family to purchase these molds.

I am still holding out.. but my confidence is low. Marc has the best intentions I am sure.. I just don't think he has the same passion that Mike Mikoz had. After Mike died, no one was able to make a successful go of this hood. Its certainly not the design, Its the cost to manufacture and a reasonable profit make the retail cost too prohibitive.

Just my assessment of the situation.

this sounds about right to me, 2500.00 plus paint is a third the cost of a lot of these cars. I would place a wtb add in the parts for sale section and keep putting it to top if you want one, they are very nice hoods, both versions ( high rise for sc).

Good luck

I've always loved those hoods, but they are cost-prohibitive for this C5'r. If I found a used one reasonably, I'd jump on it though!
