Why are C5 sellers asking C6 prices?

I've been searching for another low mile C5 since March. Every one I've seen with low mileage is commanding top dollar. I looked at 2 over this past weekend. One with 7K and the other with 12k on the clock. Each were in the $26K range. Might be nice to buy and own, but after a few years when the clock reads 65k the depreciation is huge.
Wow, for <26K you can get a super low mileage Z. For way less you could have a low mileage 99 C5. I know right where one is...lol. But I'm in Colorado...

On topic though, the c5 is still desirable, many people find (especially the c5z) the c5 more desirable than the c6 base. There are posts all over talking about people selling c6z's for c5z's. It isn't the majority of people, but it's still frequent enough to prove that the c5 is a relevant and desirable car, and the value reflects that

OP became a troll pretty quick. Or was this a troll thread from the start?

I would have to ask why you're even interested in the sale prices with comments like the ones you posted above.
Sounds to me like you're just mad that you can't buy one as cheaply as you'd like. You can't compare a ratter C6 price to a pristine C5 price. By the same token, you wouldn't compare a junky C5 to that of a nice C4.
I don't know what you're looking to pay or what you think they're worth (you skipped that question) but dollar for dollar, the C5 is likely the best performance bargain out there, at least for us poor folks since it's easily upgraded. The C6Z would be my choice for outright performance bargain of the Corvette lineup as of current but I'm sure you'd complain about the prices of those too despite it being a near Supercar for around $40k.

Go online and work through KBB for the various years. And don't pay any more than those prices for private party sales. I checked for my own vehicle, and if anything their price was high.
BTW, I agree about the C6 Z06 being the real bargain (above). If I drove my own car more than my wife's these days, that's where I would be headed. And if the C5 breaks that may be the excuse I need.

One fact remains that many people do not understand, you make or lose money when you buy a car, not when you sell it.

Prices on Corvettes are obviously very regional. Here in FLA they are very reasonable, C4's $5k, C5's $10k, C6's $20k - even starting to see the C7's below $50k. Of course there are many variables, adjustments for age, mileage, condition, options, ect. I would never pay extra for a modded car, I prefer bone stock, but too each his own. Here's a deal on a C6 - http://orlando.craigslist.org/cto/5581695383.html

If you're looking for a C5Z, don't expect to be able to talk the seller down much. The values actually just went up about 25%.
To the people who think "It's only worth what someone's willing to pay for it", or "They price it high and it won't sell", go ahead and call up some dealers with Z06s in stock and make an offer. See how many budge. I spent 6 months looking for my 02-04 Z06, and tried to get them to negotiate via email and on the phone. They were pricing them 4-5K over KBB and NADA. They could give a rat's *** what they or the bank valued them at.
Then I decided to take a 6 hour drive to Dallas and Houston to show up face to face, with CASH and make my offer. Through email and on the phone I didn't get a single dealer to go down one. Red. Cent. Even me offering them $2K above NADA, they still didn't bite. I looked at 4 in Dallas alone, and then 3 in Houston. I was polite, and had paperwork for each vehicle showing "Hey, I can only value this car at $X, how about $X + $1K". Didn't wanna hear it.
