Why are C5 sellers asking C6 prices?
This is not meant to bash anyone, but have you all noticed the same thing?

Are they stock C5s? Or lots of mods?
People may be charging a premium for a highly modded C5... it seems like the C5s are at the age now where people have modified many of them extensively to keep them relevant and modern.

Well I'm interested in this thread as I'm selling and buying simultaneously. I'm trying to price my C5 fair and get a fair deal on a Z. However one thing I noticed right away when shopping , a low mileage great shape C5 (mostly mod) or C5Z and a base C6 are the same price range (high teens to low 20's depending on car). I look at non-modded cars... A man's got to know his limitations (Clint E.)

My point exactly!

Not everyone wants an early C6. Claiming a C5 is priced too high because it's the same price as an 05 auto C6 isn't a good argument.

As always, they are free to ask what they want, but what they actually get when the car sells could be vastly different. I can see a premium for a very low mileage, highly optioned car, but how much of a premium is up for debate. If a seller is getting a high price for their car, then good for them.

Everyone in the market always brags about how cheap everything else is when they're trying to buy what they want. My response is usually "so go buy one of those then" because 9 out of 10 times they don't exist in the first place
In your situation, pick a 08+ C6 over a C5 for the same money, it's a no brainer.

I think it boils down to supply and demand. C5's seem to be holding their own and are not loosing value like they did a couple of years back. I think they have bottomed and are now turning around. C6's have not hit bottom yet. I am basing this on just watching the prices, no scientific survey.

As in all things, and from one who has bought and sold a pretty fair amount, from real estate to corvettes, and all manner of other items, I do believe the following to be true: "Any item is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it". In the end, the prospective buying public will determine the final value or selling price. If overvalued by the seller, in the eyes of those prospective buyers, the item remains unsold. Anyway, thats been pretty much my experience. Y'all have a good one!

You can buy a super low mileage C5Z for that, most likey less.

This is what I see going on after reading a lot of posts on the forum. This is comparing the c5 Z06 and the C6. Just use auto locator within 500 miles of where you are located and their is not a lot of Z06's forsale. Because these cars are getting harder to find so that's ups the valve. And their are guys that bought c6's and went back to a c5 Z06 because they did not like the car. Their are different situations.

The c5 market is so weird right now. Youll see some base C5's going for as low as $7-$10k, Then some with 30-40k miles less with prices of $18k+.
I guess it all depends on how serious you are on moving the car. People who are asking alot are likely sitting on the car for a very long time.

You think like a real Hot Rodder getting money back out of a Modded ride really been building fun rides for 45+ years and have spend big money on some never to see the money back . The fun factor PRICELESS .I guess it the young people thinking you can get your money back from a modded ride no never could and prop. never will need to go into the deal thinking its going to be a fun ride I will have fun in it and there is a price to pay for that is it a keeper or will I try to sell it later ,need to look into why you are doing this deal in the first place ..Spending money on a old C-5 Corvette is for a cool ride not an investment I have $30-$40 in my 04 get my money back no way some my buds have new C-7s I run around them like there backing up PRICELESS . Money back from a HOT ROD LOL..

In terms of the modified vehicles.. as someone mentioned here, people can ask whatever they please for their vehicle. For instance, if I were to sell my car and it's sitting on $6000 wheels, $6000 worth of engine upgrades, and another $3000 worth of body work, I don't expect to recover all of it. However, I will definitely be asking more money for my car than a bone stock C5 all other things being equal (mileage, general condition, etc)
That amount may be coming close to an early C6
