To Skirt Or Not To Skirt?
I bought a set of side skirts and am having doubts about installing them. Mainly the ease of maintenace without them. They are the real carbon fiber skirts. They have a few flaws in them as well so they will most likely need to be painted car color, something a bit different or try to reclear them, not sure yet. I think they look killer with the wide body rear fenders but I don't have those. So I guess I'm asking you all to try and talk me into or out of them. I love the style of these and they are the only ones I would consider using on my car. The jack is just there for mockup obviously. Anywho, praise or slam away.

Do it. Use the 2 stock locations and some 3M tape and see how you like it. If you don't dig it after a few drives you can always remove them with zero issues.
I just installed a set and though they don't fit exactly as I would like (I'm a bit too picky) I really feel they compliment the car and update the look given almost all newer Vettes have skirts and a lip.

IM offering my opinion... that's it.. an opinion, not an opportunity for attacks. I like the look of the skirts, much like the splitter. But I like a lowered car more.. While the skirts and splitter look nice in a photo. For me they would take too muc away from my driving pleasure.. Anyone considering these might want to look at the under side of their present rockers and see how many rubs and scratches are there./ These rockers are glued on so they do not crack and break so easily when engaging a speed bump curb etc. Imagine these scrapes and knocks in an unsupported skirt, and you can imagine them being the brunt of a speed bump and only become cracked. If you have no scratches or knocks in your rockers now then these might work well for your driving style and location.. Again they do look nice.. but too restrictive for me.

I'm really starting to like the looks of side skirts on the C5. I would say go for it and install the parts, but it's not my car.

Hey Evil, not going to attack anybody here. Don't do that and I respect yours and anyone else's opinion. I have the rubbing under control I think. When I first bought the car I installed those hard plastic rub strips on the bottom when I found out about the speed bump issues. So I'm hoping they won't rub to bad if they are lower then those. I might just put them on with the tape for a while and see what happens. I don't think my color car will pull off the carbon finish so I will most likely be painting them car color. Thanks for your opinions everyone.

I just installed these and really like them. Only problem is a keep stepping on them when I exit the car.
As ET pointed out you have to wary of conditions in your area ( speed bumps ) etc...

I agree with nvusgt just use 3m tape and existing holes and try it out for a couple weeks if you have doubts. I do think you will end up liking them. Also as peteinpa said in the beginning you may find yourself stepping on them as you exit the car. Some times I catch my foot underneath them when I leaning over the car to details or lower or raise top this does get better.

I say do it if you like it I've learned on hear that everybody has there own opinion and what you like isn't always what everybody else likes so do what makes you happy and excited for your car and make it you with your personality!!!
I think it looks good and goes well with the color of your vette

Thanks for the input everyone. I'll do the tape on install next weekend and see how it looks and check clearance issues if any.

Yes the front lip and the rear spoiler are painted so these will get painted if I decide to keep them. I'll put them on for a couple weeks and see how it goes. I'm pretty sure I'll like them but still debating the ease of the jack going under the side. The jack going in the front is impossible with the splitter so I need to jack the sides up and put my wood planks under the tires before I can use the jack in front.

Much like Evil said Mark, they look fantastic, but the utility might subtract from the appearance. I'd put them on mine, but I'm reasonably sure that the angle of my driveway would make it a pain in the backside to live with....hell, I'm only lowered on stock bolts and I scrape now...
