I found the Conti Extreme Contact DW in 275/40ZR/17 and 295/35ZR/18 @ Tirerack. The cost was $852 otd. I've never bought from TR before so hopefully all goes well. They said the tires will be delivered to the shop tomorrow, which is pretty impressive. Thanks again for the input!!

I ordered the same tires from Tire Rack last Thursday, shipped next day to an installer. Mounted, road forced balanced and on the road Friday. Great tires and great service. went on a 500 mile road trip yesterday and am very pleased. Save the wave.

FYI - while placing the order I was asked about Active Handling issues. It was being said here that people weren't having any AH issues using the 275/295, so I ordered. I did some more research here and found that the AH system wants a .5" to 1.5" difference in tire diameters between fronts and rears. Well the differential was .4". I didn't want to chance any issues so I changed the fronts to 255's. Now I have a 1.1" differential and more peace of mind.

After I changed the order I received a call from Luke @ TR. He came across this thread and told me the 275 will work with no AH issues. So I switched back to the 275...

I think the 255's are more aesthetically pleasing. The cars running 275's that i came across looked just a bit wonky in the front. On the other hand, more rubber is always a good thing.

My 275's looked great and yes the extra rubber felt better. Tirerack is very reliable.

You can try keeping the width and going to a lower aspect ratio. I have 18's in front with 265/35's. They are the same diameter as the stock 17" tires. But to me it looks so much better.

I will be ordering a set of new tires finally from Discount Tire this weekend, I've been having a problem deciding which tires due to the lack of availability in 295/35-18. I finally decided to get off the fence since they are giving extra financial incentive this weekend. I have CCW Classics in 18", 10" front and 11" rears. I'm getting (unless I change my mind again) Continental Extreme Contact DW's, 265/35 fronts and 295/35 rears.

In the sizes I run on my car the tire diameters are the same as the 17/18 stock diameters. In thousands of miles of driving I have never had any negative issues of any kind and the car drives perfectly. The stagger looks great too because there is a lower profile sidewall up front, as there should be. The only problem I have had is finding a set of four due to rear tire availability. I was running the Vredesteins, as you know, but they discontinued the 295's, Michelin isn't making them in 295 Super Sports, even though they list them, so I'm going to the Conti DW's.
