Default Lack of tires has me thinking of selling

Maybe I am nuts but the lack of reasonably priced tires for the C5 is becoming an issue. Tirerack has ONE choice. $400 per tire. Yes I can afford so if you are going to bash me for that forget it. However I see other tires for $180-$250 like the Bridgestone Potenzas RE760's. So why not buy the cheaper tire so I can use money other places.

My tire search has me thinking of switching back to a mustang or another toy car/track day car.

oooops!! I should have mentioned it's a Z06!

You buy whatever works for you. Only you can make that call.

I was just on there and see numerous tires on there for a lot less then $400 a tire are you looking for run flats ??? If so you may consider running conventional tires and getting a plug kit and small compressor to carry woiith you. That's what I did , got some Hankooks and tire kit 2 yrs ago and the ride difference and reduced noise make the ride much more enjoyable.

What about searching for some really good used tires? No one says you have to buy new.

I found same thing with the wheels to tell you the truth! Everything I like is around $1000/wheel! That's absurd! So, I started looking around for some good used ones. Not quite ready yet, but when I am, I'm sure I'll go that route. It's highway robbery if you ask me!

I have always been able to find at least 2-3 different tires to choose from in a given size, granted I am not on stock wheels/sizes... what particular size are you looking for?... sometimes you can go with a slightly different size to make things work if you aren't opposed to doing that, or buy new wheels with the appropriate tires

I'm kinda in the same boat as you. I replaced my stock size wheels with Z06 size and had a hard time finding the right size tires. Ended up having to going with a 275/40's up front and 295/35's in the rear.. looks like crap cause the front tire is taller and fills out the opening in the fender more then the rear tire....

Man I've enjoyed the past 30k miles on my z06 with $800 (for the set) conti DW tires.

Stop using the "find tires for my vehicle" feature and just pick out known sizes that work, there are many different options.

What's wrong with the Bridgestone RE760 Potenza? Is that not available anymore?

Have you considered new wheels in say a 18/19?

Exact same boat (but I'm not selling) lol. Here in Colorado looks like F1's or Michelins which are 1600+ on the high end. In January I did find Conti EC DW's (sold that car to get the Z. Now I can't find those. I'm told RE 760 Sports is it and even those are in two different warehouses. I looked for Nitto etc. etc. Just ordered 760's... Good price though

Go to 255s up front and 285s out back and you'll open up a world of inexpensive, available tires.

Or use it as an excuse to buy a nice 18/19 wheel and tire setup.

OP you're clearly not looking in the right places.

People think tire rack is the only place to buy tires lol

That's what I'm thinking of doing .... C6 Polished 5 spokes, I can live with a 20 mm adapter in the rear

Agreed. Conti DWs 295 width in the rear, 275 width in the front and don't look back. They hook awesome and your active handling will be just fine!

I'm running same tires also but they were on my car when I bought it I just put a 3/4 spacer on rear to kick my tire out some so it would match my front better.it looks better but still not satisfied with the look.i been searching for other options but don't want to buy new tires yet.mine still has lots of miles left on them

I just put new 285/35/19s on the rear of my car for about $180/tire. Dunlop direzza dz102. Shop around a bit and check different sizes that will still fit. Plenty of options.

Yes going down a few sizes opens up lots of options. Never thought about going to 18/19. Things is is have to buy them. Sell mine. AND I need to buy wheels for the track along with tires!

I was going to go with a 20 mm adapter in rear but did not have enough threads on my studs so I had to use a spacer with studs in them and for what I seen 3/4 was the smallest I could get with studs on them.
