I have run the Dragon many times, on motorcycles, (Aprilia Tuono, Kawasaki ZRX 1100, Yamaha FZ1 and R1,) but never in my any of my Corvettes. My 01 convertible has Touring, Sport, and Performance settings. I would use Touring or Sport. Performance is really stiff, and will beat you on anything rough, i.e. Sebring Race Way.
Hmmm I'll take the country roads over a track anytime
Track is far safer than public roads. For many, many reasons. Public roads make me nervous. At speed even more so. Add to that a very twisty section of road with many blind turns and large numbers of people who think they are F1 or Moto Gp drivers/riders.............yikes!!!
The Dragon is a great place to get yourself in real serious trouble very quickly. Don't get me wrong, its a great drive/ride, you just have to respect it. Have fun and be safe! Take care.
I hear what you guys are sayin'...
But if I don't do it I will always wonder
IF you haven't or don't know at the very least SOME of the capabilities of your car, find an empty parking lot late at night when no one is around and drive the **** out it...corner hard, hit the brakes hard, gas it hard while turning, hit the brakes hard while turning hard, push it till you lose control, might happen faster than you think... better to see what happens there, than somewhere like the Dragon...

We ran the dragon in our other vert, but not in the vette, yet. The county mounties have little hide-y holes they like to hide in there. Ask me how I know.
I'm planning a trip to a place called tail of the dragon. It's in the mountains with all curvy roads. I have the selective drive and was wondering should I select the sport or just leave it in touring mode (where I always leave it). Does it make a difference?
I know everyone wants to test this road, but it can bite. It is actually posted 30-35 mph. If you meet a bike laid over in a curve or an 18 wheeler that is using both lanes to make a turn there is no place to go. I think the last thing you need to do is optimize your suspension for some "high speed" run if you value your Corvette or your life or those of others. I have driven it in both directions at a reasonable speed and it is a great road, but use common sense.
I can't remember the last time I saw an 85.00 speeding ticket. Hell, I just paid 100.00 for a ticket for no front plate.
Shakey
It was for only 5 mph over, plus $35 "court costs". It's the only ticket I've had since 1982. The tickets on the dragon are a regular source of local cash flow, near as I can figure.
