Congrats on your new toy. I just got mine a couple months ago, I have had great time getting to know it.. One hand on the shifter and one on the wheel and it feels like an animal that wants to be let loose.

Safety Car
Everyone should have a red sports car at some time in their life.
Some complain they attract cops, and sell, others just roll with it. I never noticed the effect, but then I keep a tight control of things behind the wheel, and my old red roadster sports car was hardly a tire burner.
I selected my purchase by price and condition only, and was glad I got a black convertible , feeling a low profile choice better for an old man like myself. I always think old guys in flashy cars look pretty stupid when I see the old coots flossing around town and the girls laughing in return. Now that I am more used to the car, I don't care about other's reactions, I could use some more color, but remain happy.
I don't advise this, but there is an old guy around my town with one of the old vipers, orange/red with yellow wheels. If you talk to him , one of the first things he mentions is , "Still has the original tires" . He also seems to enjoy oxidized paint, by the looks of his ride. I think part of his joy is not spending money , and having a conversation piece. It's cool to have a friendly guy around town, but I use more paint care than he enjoys. Plus I would have torn up the wheel wells shredding those old tires. I was in one of those cars, and it was like the old muscle car days, where if you step on the gas pedal, the fuel gauge drops in response, like they were connected.

I've had mine for just shy of two years and I still drive it every chance I get. Like some others here, I started out looking for red and ended up yellow. No biggee, they're both great.
Here it is the day I bought it

I think we all have a "just got home" pic and here is mine. I hope to get a few better/cleaner shots today as we have been getting a lot of rain. I (like Rider) went with $ and condition. This one is show room with 6600 miles. However I have been driving her so keeping her that pristine may be quite a chore... We'll see. She has seen a fair share of Chadwick's. I like the red and while black would of been great, I think this color is easier to maintenance. We will see- its a journey. And pull your codes, log, reset then look again after 100 miles or so. While shopping, I never saw a Vette that did not have some codes. This one had quite a few but as of yesterday, not one has returned.
