Default Question about front plate cover

I was going to paint a front clear acrylic cover to match the car and run it on the front. When I removed the cover, this is what I see. I'm sure I'm missing something. The only thing behind the cover is a foam gasket. Isn't there supposed to be a blank plate? I don't see any way to make it work like this.

Thanks in advance,

Shakey

Somebody has modified the car. When the front plate beauty cover is removed there should be a portion of the fascia that has a mount setup to put a plate. This area is frequently cut up to allow more air to enter the front fascia.

EDIT: Here you go. This is what it's supposed to look like when you remove the front license plate cover.

But that is what I want to do, attach a license plate. I was going to paint the area of the acrylic cover surrounding the plate to match the car.

So I guess I am jst SOL?

If you go with option 2 above, I would use a patch of Velcro instead of double sided tape. You could have one heck of a time getting the plate off to put on new registration decals if you use double sided tape, depending on how much tape you use.

The foam just goes around the lip of where the backing plate was cut.

I like idea 2 above, I think it just might work.
