I'm on here a lot so if you hit at stumbling points feel free to ask questions preferably with pics

Thanks for the insight. I just ordered a set of belts so once they arrive I'll be digging into it again.

I will be putting the C6 belts in the car this weekend and will take some pictures. Because my C6 belts only came with the belts/retractors, I will head over to the junkyard Saturday morning to shop for some receivers (red button units). I am betting on GM using a similar buckle from past models in family cars.

remember my neon/viper receivers were a direct fit. Maybe an old neon something from Chrysler/dodge would work too.

I am considering the idea of using a dremel and grinding away some material on the sides of the C6 male ends to fit into the C5 red button receivers. Once I get my belts I'll have to bust out the measuring calipers and see how feasible that idea is.

Although your idea might make the parts fit, I would never machine/shave down the buckle and receiver. If they get weakened they could fail during a crash and cause injury. I would much rather spend some time and fit a receiver that works, rather than rigging it.

OK, so got my C6 seat belts today in the mail.

As you can see in the pic they are recoiled up around the spool. I can't get them to come off of the spool. Is there a trick to it? Also, for those that have done this swap. It looks like the one has a connector of some sort...assuming from the air bags in the C6. Can I just remove this piece off of the bracket or do I need to connect it to something? How do I determine the driver from the passenger?

I can't see photobucket pics at work Ill have to see when I get home later. There should be something on the seat belts that says D and P or R and L sorry its been 5 years since I did this.

This is from my Honda day's. The re-tractors will be locked unless they are in the upright positions. Now if the airbags were deployed they are trash...

I think your right that's the reason I had to switch my L and R as mentioned to get them to retract properly. Its like there is a level built inside of them

I have about a thousand miles on the new seat now and love it. The S2000 seat has been fantastic, but it's mounted slightly too high and needs to be reclined a bit more to be really comfortable - so I picked up a set of aftermarket universal C5 seat brackets that I will weld to the S2000 rails. They have the incline built in, will bolt up to the C5 floor, and sit a lot lower than my custom stuff.

I want to get all this done before my 4th of July trip down to Nashville, so the clock is ticking.

The mounting holes on the factory rails are just slightly off for the seats I got. I think What I'm going to do is get a 2" wide piece of mild steel or aluminum and make adapters and see if that works out well. These look like a good plan B if I need to get that route. Are these universal mounts expensive or reasonably priced?

Very reasonable. I initially was going to whip something up out of flat stock, but by the time you buy the raw material, get it all bent up, holes drilled, welded, painted, it's not worth your time.

$67 for both brackets, free shipping! doesn't get better than that.

That is quite a good price. Thanks for the link as well. I'm hoping my $10 piece of flat stock, and some time and elbow grease works but glad to know I have this as a back up option. Just a heads up...that link is dead/no longer available.

I just finished installing Mitsubishi Evo 9 Recaros and C6 belts this week. The C6 belts will not extend unless they are mounted in their normal upright position (you can hold them in that position close to your ear, and you will hear the reel unlock). I also thought mine were broken but they are fine. Here's my how-to thread: https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...de-how-to.html

Yep that is what I paid!!!!! The mounts bolt right to the floor only thing I had to do was dremel the hole a little wider to mate with my universal sliders
