Anybody see the '03 Anniversary 'vert with 57 ORIGINAL MILES on ebay?
This dude is losing his A$$! $44,900. http://www.ebay.com/itm/231977420539?rmvSB=true And the factory plastic-wrap is still on the carpets.
That thing had to be what? at least $55K new? That's over $70K now.
The owner must be in desperate straits. In 10 or 20 years, it's worth a mint. Now, he's losing money! AND HE NEVER GOT TO DRIVE IT!
If I had 45 grand burning a hole in my pocket, I'd buy it in a heartbeat, but I wouldn't put it on ice for my grandkids to auction off at Mecum. I'd drive that sucker! It's got a 6!

Currently the only thing he lost is the opportunities to drive and enjoy the car. Whether he drove it or not it would have depreciated and doubtful he is going to get what he is asking at this point. Letting the car sit for 13+ years is not a good thing to do.

You hit the nail on the head; the value in that 'Vette was driving it, not putting it on ice for decades. I can't imagine it ever appreciating to the point where it's worth more than the joy of driving it.
Shame.

Doing some digging on Autotrader, there's one with 25.3K miles for $24K in Vermont. There's a few with less than 15K miles for about $35K or less.
I wouldn't want to pay an extra $10K to have to do the break-in period myself.

I don't see ANY C5s cross the block at Barrett Jackson .... I watch them quite a bit...
Maybe they sell them on monday morning...

A few years back I would have bought a Vette had I been there. It was Johnny Carson's low mileage white C4 that went for $10K.

It may be the lowest mile AE on the planet. That has to be worth something.
A friend of my late Dad collects cars and bought a 25th anniversary Vette, trailered it home and put it in his collection. It has 5 or so miles on it and it's still there. Saw it last summer.
If you are ever in the area check it out. Fountain City Wis.

Definitely not a wise investment for the seller.

I paid about $40K for my '99 'vert in 2002 (I know, too much).
If I could have that 40 grand back, and invest it, and get the return at, say, 25%, and NEVER get to have those 5 years of driving a convertible C5, with a 6-speed....
I wouldn't take it.
My Corvette years were some of the best years of my life. They were worth WAAAAYYYY more than $45,000.

If I bought it, it would have 5000 miles on it by the end of the year, and another 6-8k on it every year hence. Thanks for the 57 mile car!
It's a car, albeit a nice car, and my house ain't a museum. That's why they invented the NCM.

The owner will probably get more than it's worth selling on ebay, but he's smok'n meth if he thinks it's going to bring 44K.
I would probably offer as high as $22k and that would be it. $42K would have gotten you a brand new 2013 1LT w/72 Months 0% financing and a full warranty.

The guy probably had other cars maybe including Corvettes to drive. He obviously was some kind of collector. He isn't losing that much. Heck, you take a car off the lot and it depreciates 5 grand. He has had a super conversation piece for 12 years. A friend of mine has a 69 Judge that has been on blocks in his garage since 1970. It's still his pride and joy.
