Default ARH can't decide 1 3/4 or 1 7/8

i want to buy ARH for my 03 z06, can't decide on size. i want to do heads and cam in the future, not expecting to ever do more than 500 hp.

if there is a chance you will boost the car or swap to a bigger motor in the future I would go with the 1 7/8's right off the bat... if you are dead set that you will never do more than heads/cam then the 1 3/4's will be fine... I wish 1 7/8's were offered at the time I originally bought my headers because buying them twice is not cheap at all

I have had both sizes on my car and can't tell any noticeable difference in sound... besides, that's not really the best way to choose which set to buy in my opinion

Even on stock motor 1 7/8 make more power let alone when you do heads/cam

1-3/4" longtubes will make more power down low. They're the way to go, unless you're talking a larger motor or forced induction.

That is simply not true and you are passing along wrong info. Check out this thread made by the owner of Texas Speed with dyno results show no loss of low end power with 1 7/8 headers on a stock motor.

Also watch the episode of engine masters on YouTube where they prove that larger diameter exhaust is not bad but actually better

Apparently myself and several others are clueless. After all, you provided a link to one thread. I've read a lot on the subject, and I found more often than not that 1-3/4" longtubes were recommended for "low" power goals, by enthusiasts and manufacturers alike. YMMV.

Drop the woe is me attitude and just admit that you are spreading inaccurate info. I posted a link with empirical data with back to back dyno runs. Then you post hear say from "enthusiasts", post some real results to back up your statements.

1 7/8 is the way to go if you are buying headers. Don't even consider the smaller ones

Stock Motor - 1-3/4"
Modified Motor - 1-7/8"

If you are doing Heads and Cam 1-7/8"...

I one up your "one" thread with two threads:

https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...e-headers.html

http://ls1tech.com/forums/generation...xperience.html

Even C6Z guys know that 1-3/4 is better, and they are on 427Ci

1-3/4 all the way.

For a 346 ci trying to make close to 500 hp he needs 1 7/8. Determine your overall plan with what you are going to do to the engine as far as heads, intake, etc then have a custom cam that is optimal for the combo. It will make more power across the board than piecing a combo together
