Default DRL / Parking Light LED Upgrades

Hey guys!

I am about to upgrade my lens housings, parking lights, and DRL's.

I know Corvette Mods sells Switchback, parking lights, and a resistor as a package but that comes out to $70 even with a 7% off discount code from them for the 4th of July. I also know they like to severely overprice their items to make huge profits (ex; Carbon Fiber Race spoiler for C5's = $580 from Corvette mods while WCC sells the same exact spoiler for $400. That's only one example).

I know that right now I have 4157 lights in for the turn signals and read in another thread here that the parking lights are a 194 bulb, and I know I need a resistor to prevent hyperflashing with LED's.

Will these three items work in my C5? (Mine is a 2000, I don't think that matters though)

For the DRL's

For the parking lights

For the resistor

Also, to install the resistor, what has to be done? Any splicing or anything?

I got my switchbacks from Corvette Envy that included the hyper flash unit that goes under that dash and takes care of all the signal lights and included the led bulbs for the license plate in the package also. When I installed led tail lights later the hyper flash unit was already there and all I had to do was plug them in. Much easier than splicing in resistors. Here's a link to the thread about them https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...vetteenvy.html

the resistors go bad, I wouldn't go with them do the hyper flash unit, no problems with them at all.

I appreciate the fast replies guys, but the goal here is to save money, not buy a full package from someone. I really respect radioflyer and plan to buy HID's from him / her in the near future, but $310 is WAY more than what I need to spend to get what I want as far as my DLR / parking lights go. Piecing together the correct bulbs and parts will obviously be significantly cheaper than buying everything all at once from someone who designed a package because they like to charge a premium for the work they've put into designing their package.

$50 for a hyper flash unit is pretty steep compared to the resistors being 1/10th the cost. Rather go with the resistors and see how they work for me.

Thanks, that's what I'm hoping.

Do you know if the bulbs I linked will work?

No, the price is insane. I can get the housings for $45 on eBay, DRL / turn signal bulbs for less than $30, parking lights for $10 - $15, and resistors for $5. $111 plus possibly some tax compared to $310.

All I'm looking for really is a confirmation that the parking lights are a 194 bulb, I know the DRL's / Turn Signals are a 4157 / 4057, replaced those a few times already.

Nevermind, I checked the owner's manual and it confirmed on page 6-73 it lists 194 as the correct bulb for the front / rear sidemarkers and 3057 for the rear tail lights and turn signals.

I went with the hyper flash unit myself. Much easier than resistors. I just installed clear corners on my 03, I think they go great with halo led tails. Got everything from Radio Flyer.

I've got Corvette Mods DRL's and switchbacks. I'm happy with the quality of the corner light housings (I went with the all clears) but the switchbacks have never worked correctly. I've had no problems with their customer service, but have no real experience with it either. Take my advice- go with RadioFlyer for the switchbacks. Their Gen 6 switchbacks look awesome. Bi-color LEDs, as opposed to individual LEDs as per the Corvette Mods equipment. It's OK to be frugal here and there, but save yourself the time and hassle in the lighting department.

You get what you pay for. I have had the corvette mods also what a pita to rig. Got the radio flyers not one problem. Your money spend it on what you can afford and be happy with what you get out of it. JMO

So I'm beginning to lean towards the hyperflash harness per your guys's recommendation. What's the installation procedure? It sounds like you guys are saying it's easier than the resistors. What has to be done?

Thanks in advance!

Is it something that requires my middle console being removed? If so, I think I'm going to jump on that now because I already have my console out lol

Thanks again
