Fuel gauge messed up

Fuel gauge messed up
So on top of my wipers being screwed up now my gas guage is acting funny. It started 2-3 months ago where i would turn the car on then the guage would say half tank (it was full) now i drive my normal routes and clearly it is not updating the reality of gas tank. Yesterday on the gas guage it registered 3/4 tank. I filled up 15.4 gallons so clearly its off. Is this something i can fix myself or take to chevy dealer? If so how much or how hard is it to fix?

Put a bottle of Techron in it... well, the contents of the bottle of Techron not the bottle...

Do you have a Chevron gas station in your area? If you do, use it. Chevron makes Techron, a common fix for our gas gauge problems. If not, you can buy Techron in bottle at auto parts stores, Walmart, and I've also bought it on Amazon.
Here's an amusing story. I recently visited a friend who is restoring an 80's MG. He was looking through a parts catalog so I asked him what he was looking for. He told me the fuel gauge wasn't working so he was going to buy a new sender. I told him about the Corvette problem and suggested before he buy any parts, why doesn't he see if it would work for him. The next time I saw him he was excited to tell me that he put in one bottle of Techron and it fixed his fuel gauge.

I'd run it down to half or until about a quarter of a tank left then add the techron. I would think it would mix in the gas better that way but it may not make a difference at all if u were to add it to a fairly full tank. I usually use a bottle with every oil change.

I read the additive analysis report on top tier gasolines and Shell had the most techron by far. If you use it exclusively you probably don't need to add any, but I do add a bottle of techron when I put mine away over the winter. I have not had a gas gauge issue since I started using Shell V-Power gas.

I prefer to add techron when the tank is half full or less, then top off the tank. This helps mix the techron evenly right from the start. However, you won't hurt anything by adding a bottle to a full tank. It will mix with the gas just takes a little longer to get an even blend.
