Buying a new Corvette 17 years after the fact

I found that the intake I bought is an "RM Racing" twin tube, which seems to have mixed reviews, but I'm not too concerned that it will be a poor performer.
Car is up on stands, and work has begun. Hopefully it will be back together for spring!

I'm the guy with the 4,500 mile 2000 NB coupe, I'm going to be doing most of your suggested upgrades to my car. I won't be tracking my car like you but I do like to drive aggressively where appropriate. I'm currently doing the LMC5 add, all new fluids, hoses and belts with tensioners. This week I bought NOS polished Y2K's and new tires and now I'm tracking down a Z06 axle-back setup. Next the sway bars... thanks for the story and the inspiration!!!

DRM Bilstein coilovers are on, along with stainless brakelines and Motul 600. I also did a ton of maintenance. At the same time. I still need to flush my coolant and replace the hoses, but I don't currently have a large enough drain pan.
I also broke the coolant sensor on the head, and it took a few days after the replacement to get rid of the air bubble it left, which was pretty frustrating.
I have to say the stock suspension could not have been easier to remove. I used this walkthrough by lionelhutz:

The first "fun run" autocross is this coming weekend, so I'll be able to see how the car feels a bit better than my commute. I need to get my gopro out and find a good spot for it on this car.

These cars just look so outstanding when lowered quite a bit on Z06 wheels.

I also have to ask, how bad is the front central air dam scraping at that ride height?

So far its only scraped once, on a pile of gravel in my driveway. I'm sure its going to take a beating at this height though, as there is only about 2-3" of clearance.
I have been driving consciously and been able to avoid everything so far, but I'm going to be realistic and say that I would not "daily drive" the car at this height.
If I have clearance issues during the autocross I will raise it up some more, however, me being an idiot on public roads hasn't cause any issues yet.

Good to hear. I'm trying to go for "the look" as well and am thinking about tire sizes vs amount of lowering all around. What are your wheel widths and tire sizes again? The lack of a gap in the front is just awesome.

I'm running a square set up.
four 18x10.5 rear z06 wheels (new from house of wheels here on the forum)
four 285/35r18 Michelin Pilot Super Sport
This has never caused an issue with active handling or traction control, which a lot of people seem to think it will for some reason.
There is no suspension or tire rubbing currently either

new purchase
Thanks so much for your story , and hope you enjoy the vette for years to come. I too have had lexus and other cars/trucks but always had a vette as well. Perhaps i was a bit luckier than you because i bought my first vette at the age of 20. Again congratulations and welcome to the forum.

Installed the LMC5 last night, very simple.
I haven't had any problems with the column lock before and hopefully now I never will.
My newest problem is a sporadic ECT (Engine Coolant Temp) Sensor. From what I have read, my symptoms, which consist of the sensor reading open and pegging to the hot side (throwing P0118), sounds like a short somewhere in the harness.
I did recently replace the sensor because I broke the connector off the end of the sensor, but it sounds like I need to look a little farther back on the harness for rub through on the insulation or something similar.

Replaced the ECT sensor (again) with a new one from autozone (faulty sensor was a new OEM piece) and it solved all my woes.

Nice. When left undisturbed, wiring generally doesn't give any issues.
