Default Review of MGW shifter / lower shift box

If you wish to have a "well defined, positive shift" then install this shifter. Other than exhaust upgrades, this is the most satisfying mod I have done to the car. NIGHT and DAY difference from stock vagueness.

Thanks for the review.
I have a MGW shifter purchased fr my 02, I just need to install it. Will probably wait til winter time as I have allot to do to the interior besides the shifter and might as well do it all at the same time.

Mine is being delivered today. I can't wait! The stock shifter feels lousy.

I could not row thru 6 gears without missing one or more with stock shifter. I thought it was me. Out of desperation I purchased a MGW (even phoned and spoke with George the owner) the difference is incredible and I have not missed a shift in recent memory. I believe GM would have sold another twenty thousand Corvettes if they came stock with MGW. Quick and easy install and an opportunity to get to know your car better too. Compare the old shifter to MGW and you will be shocked. Rob

It is hard to describe the difference between this shifter, stock or the B & M I removed. The gates are easy to find and the shift is relatively short. The reverse is rifle bolt ready and where it should be. The install is shown on the MGW website in DETAIL on video.

10 out of 10.

Received mine earlier this week and finished installing it today. I agree with everything said here. Install was easy as pie. Quality is top notch. I had a C6Z shifter in my 01Z and the shift **** didn't even fit to the shifter right. There was up and down play. After everything is bolted up to the MGW everything is as solid as can be. Throws are smooth and precise. And shorter shift times make driving the car smoother easier.

I read a bunch of reviews on a bunch of different shifters before buying and read a lot of people who were complaining that it was too hard to shift with the MGW or it was too notchy...IDK what they were talking about. It's no harder to shift than stock. The notchiness is appreciated and helps me to feel confident of what gear I am in when I am driving hard. There's no slop at all. It's the way it should have been from the factory. Also people complained about noise. I followed the installation video's exactly (not hard) and am not experiencing any noise or vibration issues for that matter.

Fantastic piece of hardware and worth every single penny. Best mod I have done to this car so far.

I agree with the OP .. I love my MGW shifter.. That and the LS7 clutch make hammering gears a pleasure..
