OP, before we bought our 1999 I drove a 2000 C5 with an auto and was disappointed by the low-end grunt. It isn't to say it is a slow car - I bet that thing does well on a track, but I was surprised by it. I expected more. I am not sure of the options on it as far as gearing went.

I owned a 2002 Camaro SS auto for several years before that and all I could think while driving the Vette was "my SS would smoke this thing" but that was just driving around town. Track might be a different story but my SS definitely had more head snapping ability than that particular Corvette. But the Corvette easily handled better. Not even fair to compare the two in that aspect.

Having said that we have a 1999 M6 that goes like stink and it is stock except for a CAI and cat-back.

My 2002 with 273 gears, TC off will, sometimes.

Touch the brake a bit, every time.

The other day I thought I would see how much traction control would let the tires spin with a fairly aggressive launch. 2001 coupe,Z51,Manual and recent BFG Comp 2 A/S. I was surprised how much the tires spun,it made for a fairly good launch.

You are so far from being right in this case. My frc is my first vehicle with any type of assist all of my old vehicles did not even have abs. So I know what it is like to drive without the aid of any (nannies). The point is when you are out on the street there are others out there with you and there safety is more important than you feeling hard because you drive with trac off. Please start to drive responsibility and show some respect to others lives by leaving those assisting features on. Plus the truth is if you are truly a good driver you should not be breaking traction and should never know the nannies are even there. When you break traction you are loosing time and driving sloppy.
