The steering wheel looks too puffy (too much padding), but I love the flat bottom look.

Any way to do this with less/no padding?

Has anyone attempted this as a DIY project?

Of course, you can keep OEM thickness if that's what you like

We do not offer flat bottom wheels as DIY projects at all.

Take care

I was hoping he would be improving by now, much worse than I thought. Wish him the best

That looks different than the others.

It looks like a more pronounced flat bottom than the rest.

I have been disappointed with most of the flat bottom offers for our C5 since most of them do not look very modified, just like the bottom was put on a belt sander.

Is this a new design, or an optical illusion?

When you look at the OP's pics, Joe's looks much flatter.

This a new design approach that we took. As you noticed, many D-shape wheels are "not flat enough" as many fabricators only skive a bit of rubber resin at the bottom and build up some resin at the sides but this does not make the wheel smaller. In fact, the wheel can even be a bit larger at the bottom sides. But what we do is we cut a part of the metal core and weld a straight rod between bottom spokes and then build up resin around it. This is what make the flat part longer. It could be even longer than what you've just seen upon your request

Should you have any more questions, do not hesitate to ask. I'm here to help :-)

Take care

I went with aftermarket but If I was going to stay stock this is a very nice option. Especially since I have nanny friends always freaking out that I removed my airbag
