Default new shocks? need help finding a thread!

A couple month ago I was reading a post about someone asking about getting new shocks for their car, and i remember reading about a shock that works well for the C5 Z06. maybe they were Bilsteins? I want to put better suspension under my C5Z because I think the stock suspension is terrible a only 33k miles. other than buying c6z06 shocks what else is good out there?

Thanks!

If you want non adjustable shocks the best are the PRM built Bilsteins, then in descending order, Koni FSD, Johnny O'Connell, 2004 Z06, and finally C6 Z06. When you get to the adjustable shocks, you start at $1200 a set of single adjustable Koni's and go up up to $$$$ for racing shocks.

What do you think is wrong with your suspension?

What "improvement" are you looking for?

I believe you meant DRM Bilsteins (Doug Rippie Motorsports). They are not that much more than the regular Bilsteins and are actually built for DRM by Bilstein.

Default shocks

purchased the DRM Sports
02 vette
I'm Lowered removed front adj bolts, longer adj bolts in back
Corners great, used to Road Race so have good feel for how a car handles
Great highway ride
Downside pretty stiff on the street over any deviations in the road
Overall couldn't be more pleased for the price

Thanks DRM

In my previous post I didn't mention that my car is lowered to the max on stock bolts, cut bushings in front and Bilstein Sports (not DRM's). I too have track and pro-rally experience and I'm very pleased with the ride and handling of my car. It actually rides very well in 95% of road conditions, considering how lousy roads are here in New Jersey. Well enough that it is almost a daily driver.

Is anyone primarily using C6 Z06 shocks for HPDE/non-competition track use? Are you happy with them or would you recommend something aftermarket like a Bilstein/DRM Bilstein?

For every day driving and decent handling, the C6Z shocks are the way to go for non-adjustable shocks DRM Bilsteins, Bilstein B6, 04Z shocks and Johnny O'Connell shocks are much better. If you could find some rare Ankeny Bilstein they would be the best.

This is pretty much my experience with the DRM Bilsteins. Very composed shock. Handle quite well and I do not find them uncomfortable. The only complaint I could see with them would be low speed bumps (20-35ish mph) they can be a bit rough. I drive on some dogsh!t roads, and I opted for the poly shock bushing DRM sells, so take that for what it is worth. I am very impressed with the shocks and for my personal taste/uses, I have no complaints.

My 2 cents ,when ever you drop a car, you lose spring travel as well as shock travel.
I don't think new shocks will make a great difference. If you want a cushy ride, raise
your vette. Then a new shock may make a difference, By the way ,my vette is slammed
and I never think about a nice ride. Because it is.
Good luck
