New Leather Seat Skins are Stupid Expensive
The drivers seat on my C5z is looking like crap compared to the passenger side.
I've looked both new and used covers, also it seems you can buy an entire used seat in good condition the same price or cheaper than new skins.
I'm seeing prices of $600 - $1000 for just one factory style skin.
Anyone know of a place for a single skin with the Z06 lettering that wont cost as much as 3 leather jackets?

What I'm getting at is almost everything I've bought was on a budget. Heck I even polished my entire engine using probably $100 in supplies.
$1000 for a single seat skin is just bonkers.

I'm beginning to think I could have stock style skins made and if priced properly I'd make a killing as the alternatives are priced to the moon. Think about it. Some C5s are down to $10k in value, nobody will change out seats at this cost and cars will become rattier and rattier.
The C5s have stayed fresh looking for a long time but it's cost like that for petty items that will be the death knell of these cars. Once you let some stuff go, you let other items go as well.

I would search high and dry for a pair with a so so drivers and like new passenger side. Then replace yours with the passenger.
Or better yet, buy these and sell yours.

I hear you - good quality full leather seat skins are up there in price. Back in 2009 I paid $2K for my Vette Essentials seat skins. But seven years later they still look like new.
There are a few forum vendors that sell less expensive seat covers that from forum reports seem to be good quality and hold up well. Whether they will have a Z06 emblem embroidered on them that will match the factory one exactly and whether they would sell just one is another story. And not sure if they would match appearance wise.

I redid my seats with interior innovations covers and am very pleased. I got the vinyl seats and they have held up well and feel great and soft.

You have to be dedicated in watching the classifieds. I bought these just a few months ago and they were well worth the money.

If you ask around for an interior auto fabricator, I bet you'll find a local guy who does an awesome job for about $125-$175 per seat, depending on your locale and seat, of course. That's what a local guy we found was charging. Plus you wouldn't have to replace the back of the seat either, so that would save some there also. Just a thought!

Quite a few good options out there for leather or vinyl replacements. I know that you are set on finding a driver's only single replacement, but I don't know of anyone who sells just the one side and this is your opportunity to do a nice upgrade to the really cheap leather originally used on these cars (in order to keep costs down so the $$$ could be spent elsewhere - engine, tranny, engineering, etc.).
I did mine a couple of years ago - new foam, new air bladders (blood-pressure cuff bags), and seat skins. I got them from a forum vendor - the seat skins quality was superb and the price was good but the customer service from this vendor is so non-responsive that I would not recommend that vendor. Some of the ones that have been mentioned in this thread are worth taking a look, though.

For the price of some vendors' replacement seat covers I would buy a pair of aftermarket seats, better comfort and support in turns. You can buy Corbeaus or several others for less. Check out the deals from TPS MAK, 0% financing on his deals.

Yes there are lots of good alternatives out there that are reasonably priced.
I went the expensive route with the $2,000 ones from VetteEssentials in 2008, but the only way I could justify it was because I planned on keeping the car until I died! The fit was perfect and I have enjoyed them as probably my favorite mod oddly enough. It is mt DD and they still have no visible wear.
I also sold my old stock seat covers here on the forum for a couple hundred dollars and they were almost like new - so you might get lucky there also?
Vendors have to pay a license fee to reproduce the stock logos from GM and that also adds to their cost of production.

thanks for the info re: interior innovations.
i just need driver side replaced.
Choreo, what happened to VE? I have some nice armrests that they made back in the day. Still going strong, look great and make my elbows happy when driving.

Can someone post detailed shots of their Interior Innovations leather seat covers? How is the hyde? Is it thick and durable? Relative to the cheap crapo GM paper-like leather, I'd imagine anything is an improvement....
