Drove a C6 today, still like the C5

That being said, my next car will likely be a C6 Z06. I would lose the targa, but I still have the hatch space (and a big block).

Im not sure this is 100% accurate. I believe it is actually physically different than the c5; at least in housing design, as they used to sell conversions to swap in the c5 rear. They also, like all c6 variant use a weaker axle than the c5.
That said, it is more money when upgrading the 2005 and early 2006 cars diff to bring it to the later standards, but this was @ $700 last I can remember.
The people who have swapped the c5 diffs IN to the early c6s seem to have a fair amount of luck as the housing apparently doesn't fail as easily. Due to the allowance of upgrading today, these kits (Cartek) are no longer sold.

I didn't say I needed one to be as fast, just curious...and I'm fairly new to the site, so whatever discussions have taken place in the past, I'm unaware of them...you sound a bit put off by my question...I suggest if the subject bores you, then don't post in the thread and just move on...

I also much prefer the C6, but just have not made the move yet. I wanted one when I got my C5 but decided that at the time I was better served getting a car I didn't need a loan for. It's worked out well and I'm happy with what I've got for sure. The C5 is a pretty nice car too, but I really do wish I had the keyless go. That was honestly the #1 feature of the C6 that I wanted.

Sorry but I agree with him. I much prefer the sleeker look of the coupe to the FRC, but to each their own.

The c6 is more composed and less rowdy. Even though I've put 102k miles on my 2008 z51 m6 with npp and the cars been flawless...
I still miss my c5 z06 which had a raw race car like driving experience..
I will without question say my c5 z06 was my favorite car over the past 40 years of driving.
My mistake during the 65k miles of driving that car was doing a cam job on that thing and buying early steel headers...until the ARH headers were available I suffered with header crack on the previous set by the bell housing I bracket....and unknown to me threw the tune off..
I didn't like the clutch sticking on my 500hp z06 though...that was in my opinion the cars downfall..
In my opinion the c5 truly is a timeless beauty. The only thing I think the car needs larger diameter wheels than came with the factory setup to stay completely contemporary...
18/19 s are readily available for not a lot of money...
If I had the garage space there is no question I'd buy another c5 z06...
I always liked that design...
3100 lbs 405 hp...50 grand new ...it's was obtainable and not quite as expensive as today's c7 z06..
That doubling in price is hard swallow...although the new car is amazing in every way...the hundred grand barrier is hard to rationalize for me...
50 or 60 grand is twice the cost of the average new car...and that's pretty much where I draw the line...
Seeing all the beautiful corvettes c5 s....I always smile and think it would be fun to go back to my preferred style....the c5 z06...
I like my c6 z51.... now with 102k miles...never a problem or issue...
Just a well designed sports gt...
I loved my c5 z06 for raw driving excitement...
That sticking clutch pedal was a bitch though..and I did all the forum fixes etc..

I drive a friends 2013 Z from time to time drive his jump in my 2004 Z I can't tell two cents difference in the way they drive or ride my 04 fells lighter and more like a hot rod . The 13-Z seats Way more comfortable for sure . I added 100 more Hp to my 04 and can and do out run him on the track and I handle as good as the 13 . Just saying these C-5 Zs for the money and a few mods can run with the newer ones . The seats in the C-5 NOT GOOD I did rebuild mine 3-times yes 3 times finely got them right 6'2-250 LBS big guy need a good seat .. I run with the C-7s also ok out run the C-7s can't hang with this old Z.. I love it ...

IMHO, Right now, the best bang for the buck Corvette is the C5. For well under $20K, one can purchase a car with less than 60K on the clock that has not been abused. The LS1 and LS6 engines are workhorses that have gained an excellent reputation. They're good looking Vettes that perform right out of the box. They have a comfortable ride and lack the squeaks and rattles of older models, not to mention, they're easy to get in and out of.
Some day the C6 will depreciate to a point where it will wear the crown of best bang for the buck, but right now and for a while longer, it belongs to the C5 in my opinion.

It may be easy for you to get in and out of, but for me, I'm going to have to learn the technique...

And, frankly, the coupe style has been around since 1963. Maybe you just don't like Corvettes!
