Default C5 Smoothline hard top fit question

Hi, I was wondering if any of you with a C5 Smoothline hard top have had the issue of the top not fitting snug to the car because of the trap door that houses the adapter plate? My door will only bend so far and it does not leave enough room for the top to rest on the car.

Can you just remove the trap door?

Just a thought. How about calling the manufacturer and tell them of the problem. It seems to me if you trimmed the top section that is butting against the trap door that it would be a good solution but only if it did not cancel any guarantee that the top has.

I could but that would leave that area that it covered exposed to the elements. I was under the impression that this top installation wouldn't require any modifications to the vehicle.

I've done that. I'm awaiting their reply. Just thought someone else here may have had this issue and could possibly show me a picture of how theirs look.

Can we see some pictures of it installed? I haven't seen a car with one of these on it.

Here are a couple pictures I took last month when I purchased it. The previous owner had a 2002 Electron Blue Vette. I haven't decided if I'm gonna have it painted the color of my car or black. Would love to see a torch red one with a black top if someone has that setup.

I'm still in need of a picture if someone has the time to send me one. I'm finally just hearing back from the manufacturer and they say that the door doesn't have to be removed. It feels like the trap door will break or at the lease be damaged if I push it back further. I would really like to see a picture of how that area looks.
